The main use is half price electric overnight. So they need data to see when you used electric etc.
The displays in the house are just "worry clocks". It's not like you just sit there and think "Hmm why not use some electric"! LOL...
Mind you, they did show me which devices eat the electric.

Normally gas talks to elec over Bluetooth then elec sends reads in over 3G.

We have an induction hob, so I bought a whistling kettle to use on that which seems to be quite quick. Hardly iron anything now.
