Am I buying Disneyland Paris too???? Faaaaarrrrkkkkk noooooooo

Pretty sure mine is wrong. 3 bed house with two kids who have all the gadgets that are constantly on charge. £55 a month for gas and electric. I constant provide meter readings and the app says they have been read by British Gas as well.

So I’m happy enough even though it can’t be right.

eeeee.... you meter tampering scallywag you - I'd keep quiet tbh lol

My gas meter hasn't worked since it was changed to a smart one two years ago. I have told em loads of times. Fucknose how they are going to charge me when its finally sorted,

The thing that really annoys me is they say "change your supplier to make savings" so you fuck about to save £20/£30 a year............... however do the same fucking about over car and house insurance and you can save multiples of that figure at a stroke. The reason being is that despite what we are told insurance operates in a competitive market and utilities don't - same with rail fares.

My parents were about to have their bill increased to £135 per month with BG about four years ago when I asked them what they were paying.

I changed them to the best fix I could find them at the time which was, and still is £80 per month and runs out in June.

Its saved them over £2500 over the term of the fix.

You can save lots of money once you start taking an interest and your first change is often the biggest saving whether it is Utilities or Insurance.

You certainly cant save big money year on year on insurance or utilities whatever you suggest. Once you have found the right insurance deal for you then you will not save big money year on year.

I've changed utility providers a few times and it has always been genuinely a small sum each time. I live in a low risk area so I can always get £50+ off car insurance ( 2 cars in the household) and the same on house insurance when the renewal quote is received - I had insurance tied to my mortgage once - as soon I was able at renewal I ditched it - identical cover went from @ £120 pm ( Zurich ) to @ £130 pa ( Sheila's Wheels I think )

I'm not sure how the £50 saving is that much better than the £30 you quoted for fuel saving which you said was a waste of time. In your original post you said you could save multiples of the £30 fuel saving at a stroke on insurance, not just £50.

two cars - £50 each renewal = £100 + £50 min saving off home insurance by shopping round at renewal - thats 5 x the £30 saving I made on new utilities provider. Its just maths.

Looking to switch, anyone with/had any dealings with "bulb"?

No but I'm also looking to switch, Bulb comes out best for comparison and reviews are decent. Been with Green Star for 12mths and never spoke with them, so I'm not too sure where customer service comes into it with power suppliers, it's all about price for me. Thought I would give Green Star a call tomorrow to see if they can dissuade me from switching companies, saves any hassle if they can price-match.

Give me a shout if you wish, i work with Utility warehouse......among other things!!!

Think the problem with the thread is it will depend on how many people are in the house and how big the house is.
I pay EDF around £1300 for elec and gas, there are only 3 of us but it’s a bigger than average house (5 bedroom)

Well like I said, I saved my parents over £2500 moving from Bgas to Npower, over the term of the fix. The fix ends in June and the best Npower are offering is £112 pm dual fuel for a 12month fix. I can get £92 with EDF on a fixed rate or better with a smaller supplier not fixed rate. So if I move them to EDF that's a £240 saving over a short fix. Not the £20 or £30 that you said it was only possible to save. Everyone's circumstances are obviously different but significant savings can and are made. I'm saving them £90 more than you are saving on three separate policies. That was only using the comparison sites and I expect to save them more when I look into the suppliers not represented on these sites.

A two bedroom flat complete with balcony, babbling brook and around three hectares of communal tended gardens.Always change your supplier every year entering accurate usages into comparison sites. This current year we are now coming to the end of our tenure with First Utility and I have to say they have been banging. They offered the best deal on the market and we utilized Quidco receiving £45 cash back and they paid up within two months. We initially paid £56.00 a month and after month five it was increased to £68 a month for Gas and the Electric combined. The flat is occupied day and night. It helps being an upstairs flat as heat rises and as an addendum our loft is well lagged with industry standard gear.Insulating your loft attic or flat roof is a simple and an effective way to reduce heat loss and reduce your heating bills as you will more than recoup your initial investment. It lasts for decades so crack on and get it done.We also have a combi-boiler that saves money as it heats as it goes.We do not have a bath as we use a wet room.Again this saves money so it's a difficult conundrum to assess as everyone's usage is different so to recap change your supplier regularly ensuring your on the lowest tariff available for your own individual circumstance and look at ways suggested of saving energy because that's where the saving are.Energy efficiency will set you all free.
