Gas & Electricity

And the likelihood is, even if the energy system improves or goes back to what it was, those prices will alter very little, once they have you paying them, they won’t want to let that money (profit) go, hopefully we’d see some government intervention.

I sort my mums bills out and had email today. She is 74, clinically quite vulnerable so needs to stay warm and her bill is going up from £1100 a year to £1850. She lives on her own. I am dreading breaking this news to her.
That’s a shocker. There must be so many people that can’t afford this huge increase. Is there no help from the government for your mum available ?

I think she will get that £150 towards it and is band c so should get £200 council tax reduction but even if she does, the extra £400 or so is still a lot. She is from that generation where she is more likely to turn heating off and be cold!

It's actually cheaper now to heat your home using LPG, mainly because there is no standing charge.

Don’t forget when going on line to see what tariffs are a available several companies will not quote you the SVR but only more expensive fixed rates.
You have to phone to get the SVR out of them.
Octopus is one such company.

Still waiting for EDF to confirm that we are new customers, the wife has had emails saying all the customers are now all signed up and running but we haven't been, we are still paying the rate we were under the now bankrupt company.

Every time she rings they tell her it is all sorted but wait 10 days for further confirmation, the third 10 day spell is up again tomorrow and we are still not a fully signed up customer.

Aren't they getting banned due to pollution?

*edit: ahhh not banned just fuels have to be less polluting or something

No wet wood to be burnt and eco design stoves in urban areas I think are the rules.

Get big enough log stores outside and you can season your own if you really want to save money

Sky business correspondent just said he has been sent an email from a energy specialist this morning in which he says he expects energy cap to rise to £3000 by October!
