Gas & Electricity

So out of interest.

what was everyone paying before. And how much will you be paying now ?

Mines gone from £72 to £170
Was paying £85, over the last year it's gone up to £135 and now £220 a month.
Just the two of us, my Son and i, hardly use the heating as it's a warm house

Apparantly a charger that is not in use still uses electricity and so needs to be switched off between charging things and dont leave phones etc on charge when they are already fully charged , little things add up , i suppose leaving anything plugged in when not in use includes kettles etc

I have a cat pheromones thingy for merlin , cant find what that uses
Pull your cat pheromones thingy out of the wall, there should be an information sticker on the wall facing side.

£74 a month for both until the end of December but was offered £111 (3 year fix) back in October which kicked in at the end of the last 3 year deal.

The only 'deals' on the MSE Energy Club website are from OVO at £243 & Scottish Power at £367, yikes!!! We got really lucky with the timings.

Edit: they're fixed 'offers' for 1 & 2 years apiece.

Anyone on a Flexible Octopus tariff? I can see the new unit charges etc but nowhere for predicted price?

Do I just keep my Direct Debit until they suggest I put it up?...

Gas, water, electric and Internet comes in at just over €130 a month.
Sounds fucking horrific back in the UK atm! Some of these bills are really going to mess with people's heads. :-(

Up the DD by at least £50 a month if you can. You'll certainly be playing catch-up come winter if you don't

I’m just on a standard tariff with Scottish power, email my readings at end of each month, then pay when they bill me. I want to try & pay a bit more during the summer to offset the more expensive winter months, does anyone know of a way of doing this? Used to be able to buy stamps to use but don’t know wether these are still a thing??

You can overpay to build up credit but if they go under it could be problematic getting unused credit back or transferred.
It’s not supposed to be but people are reporting problems when it happens.

With a smart metre you can’t set a monthly tariff can you ? Seems like I was paying a fixed monthly £70 with some months over and under but now it comes out whatever I use

We were actually only saying that in work the other day, The amount of people now that are completely down in the dumps, Others gone off the rails and just basically not enjoying life anymore. A he'll of a lot of it is the cost of living and the pressure that is on people nowadays. The cost of living is going up whilst the wages stay the same. It's disgusting. Myself and my missus had to start doing weekends since January, I would do a Saturday or Sunday and vice versa for herself and that's not to live a life of luxury it's just literally to put food on the table and pay the bills.

I think it’s getting to the point if retired, where it would be cheaper to fly to Tenerife in October and come back in April and If you could rent you home out during that time, even better.
