It will start in Liverpool, that’s what the Gvernmemt fear. First time we’ve seen Priti Patel for ages and she turns up in Liverpool giving them money. Sorry to be very sceptical but that’s what I believe, keep the Scousers happy at all costs.

this isnt about division between towns and cities...thats how they win....virtually the whole country needs to be together on this..

If the people of Liverpool are shouting the loudest then we should be right next to them shouting as well and backing each other up.

Seeing the news today, tomorrow might be my only game we attend this season.

I will have to see how hard things get but the thought of using my little inheritance on food and heat makes me feel sick.

It was passed to me from my hard working parents, it was meant to be used for treats not the basics for living.

Going to matches with my lad, great father and son time. A holiday in Cornwall with the missus as our treat every 12 months.

Now it looks like most if us wont be earning enough for food and heating. Why bother working ?!!

“Regime” is a strange word for the government. I’m all for shouting and backing each other, I think the last time our Liverpool neighbours disagreed with the Government they rioted. Not in favour of that.

This is the perfect time to give the green light to shale gas. The concerns about the possibility of localised earthquakes should be put aside for the greater good of bringing down peoples heating costs. Any green projects are going to take time so this will solve our reliance on Russian gas

Ha, seriously though mate, we used to fight over plastic bottles round our way, fill them with hot water and use them as many couldn’t afford a hot water bottle, but those paraffin heaters (or the little gas ones the council put in at the foot of the stairs) were an absolute godsend in winter.

Oddly about the coal fires though, as a kid always remember my Mam getting up early to get the fire going before we got up, we’d get dressed for school, have our breakfast, almost sitting on top of the fire, great days in some ways.

My mum used to turn the gas oven on so we could get dressed I front of it.

Trouble is those damned voters. The vast majority come from modern middle class and they ain’t going to vote to increase taxes on themselves. Why do you rob banks…..cos that’s where the money is. Why don’t you tax middle incomes more?….cos that’s where the votes are.

But there aren’t any working class candidates. This is my point. They’re all public educated toffs, most born with a silver spoon in their mouths

Yes happy days in a lot of ways but when you look back you realise how tough it was in reality. You also realise just how much our parents did for us and what they sacrificed. As kids you're selfish and whine and want more but most parents deserve a medal for how they coped and what they did for us . Looking back it's like we're describing a Dickensian novel and for a lot of today's kids it would be lol.

Very true mate, but I think it’s stood a lot of people of our generation in good stead with what’s about to come, it hasn’t phased me at all, I know what needs to be done, it’s my kids and grandkids I worry about, my youngest couldn’t afford to have the heating on in normal circumstances let alone now.

Granted there have never been enough working class or poor MPs. Those that there have been do not have a great record of standing up for the disadvantaged. Not even those sponsored by a union, such as Callaghan. The beast of Balsover springs to mind as an exception.
PS In 1987 to 1992 there were 64 MPs who had working class jobs before being elected to parliament. Steady decline since then. There are currently just 7 from such a background and at least one of them is a Tory.
What is the Labour Party playing at?
