Just got tomorrows Agile rates, coupled with todays I’ve switched to a fixed deal with Octopus, I don’t think with Xmas coming up and all our lights on we would end up saving anything in the long run.

I averaged 21.9p per kWh last month even with high days and that was without even trying, still better value for me atm.

Ye last month was ok for me as well, but the rises are starting at 2pm last two days upto 8pm and triple at some point, for the sake of £15 a month I’ll suck it up until spring and see what happens.

Exactly as I said.

The time to go back to Agile is when the clocks go forward an hour In March. It starts getting lighter and warmer. Less electricity use, and hanging the clothes on the washing line in late Spring, Summer, and early Autumn. March until October is the best period of the year for Agile. 8 months is a good run.

That’s what I was told to do by customer support at Octopus Energy when I discussed Agile.

That’s what I was told to do by a customer support at Octopus Energy. Even as a single person.

Ye think I screwed up mate, it’s your post I saw on it after I’d already joined, am I right that I can’t got to agile for another 9 months once I’ve come off it.

Are you with Octopus Energy? You can come off and go back on Agile at any time. It takes a few days to go through. Discuss it with Octopus first. They will give you impartial advice. If you have made your mind up to come off Agile, ask them what other alternative tariff’s are available now. I’m on Octopus 12M fixed at the moment. I did that before the price rise. The unit rate is 23p. Some people on here might advise you to stick with Agile. It’s personal choice. Good luck.

I switched to 12m fixed it’s 25p at the moment, I’ll look again at agile in March mate thanks.

Been no wind though, that will change in the coming months even days. Have to take the rough with the smooth. Averaged 18.1p per kWh between August and October. But I understand it can stress people out and they would rather just pay 25p and know it isn't changing.
 
I've just done an experiment as I have the place to myself. Normally the thermostat is set to 21c during the day and then down to 18 at night. The place is pretty well insulated and so the heating rarely comes on before I get up around 7ish, by which time the temperature is usually around 19. So the heating hasn't kicked in but there is a bit of a chill so I finish up forcing the heating on. As I've got the place to myself for a few days I put the thermostat at 21 for all periods including night. No changing it, no putting it up a bit. The result cost wise has been less than 10p over a 24 hour period. The benefit is the place is a comfortable temperature all round. The boiler doesn't have to work to get from 19 to 21.

Once the temperature reaches 21 it just keeps topping up which doesn’t cost a lot, there always been the argument to leave it on permanently rather than trying keep letting it down and then climbing back up.

So Octopus were a bit late updating my account. It turns out that the actual additional cost was about 30p over the 24 hours.

I put the thermostat up to 22 and it made less than 10p difference over 21 but was noticeably more comfortable when jus watching TV. Experiment over. I will be leaving it on the whole time whilst we're at home. It'll be set at 15 whilst we're away in the winter.
