Gas & Electricity

They really need to scrap the standing charge, they upped these when loads of companies went bump, that was years ago, it’s getting close to £1 a day now just for the privilege of been connected, get rid of it and put it on the price if fuel, the more you use the more you pay. I think we have some of the highest costs in the world, it’s fucking scandalous, Millaband needs to fuck off with his net zero bollocks, we can’t afford it but this twat of a millionaire has no idea of real life, when the rest of the world either doesn’t give a fuck or is doing it over a longer period but this guy seems to want to carve his name in history, just fuck off you prick.
one million percent this..... Great British Energy my arse!

On a slightly differt tangent we are having a water meter fitted tommorow due to the continuing price increases from United Utilities. A 12% increase this year is very much starting to take the biscuit. The meter will be fitted outdoors and we have a two year window to evauate savings, if not we can simply revert back without penalty.

Due to a change of cicumstance our usage this year will be pretty much negligable, so pleased to be paying as we go.

So wrong as usual. The bulk of the SC was increased in 2021 under a.... all together now.... Tory Government. How can one bloke ie BigJoe#1 go through life blaming so many of the wrong people for his woes?

Anyway 3 of the biggest companies are looking at shortly introducing a tariff with very low SC as a trial to see how it all pans out.

Head of ofgem was taking about that with Martin Lewis, even if they do switch it, we are still paying far too much though regardless. Fuck Milliband.

I don't agree with much of what we do regarding Energy policy, but Miliband wasn't the instigator of the high SC. But if you want to direct your victim syndrome at the wrong person then that's your perogative.

No bit he’s the one pushing the net zero more than anyone, all they’ve done is redirected the tax somewhere else.

Aren’t the high SCs recouping money for the companies that took on the suppliers that went bust, rather than anything to do with Net Zero?
They used to be but not anymore,
Maintenance of the UK's vast network of energy pipes and wires
The cost of meter readings
Investments in renewable energy sources
Government programs aimed at helping vulnerable households

So all good and necessary stuff then.
That should come from profits of people who use more, so get rid of them and put it on the units instead, higher users pay more. If you can take away at least £20 a month of vulnerable people then that would help massively, amazing they are lauding prices going down in April, guess what no fucker uses central heating then!

I agree. In a previous thread a few months ago I advocated 20% VAT on those who have a very heavy usage on things like heated swimming pools. A friend has one and spends £000s to heat it even in the winter and still pays the same rate of VAT.

100%. Milliband belongs in a padded cell.

Had one fitted a month ago. Now estimated at @£600 ish. Funnily enough it was £600 ish a couple of years ago until they put some ficticious £900 on it.
