Gas & Electricity

I have got a nice surprise from OVO, i registered as a vulnerable person answered a few questions and that was it. I
got a message a couple of days ago to say they are sending me a desk heater and an air frier to help me with energy costs and a company has already contacted me to check i am getting all the benefits and grants i can and also looked at my fixed contract and confirmed it was the best one for me

Go OVO !

On top of a drop of 21 to 10 percent on vat equivalent for petrol in Spain the vat on electricity is to be removed and today's price on a bottle of butane or propane is frozen.
All await publication but will happen in next 2 or 3 days.

Edit
Hydrocarbon tax on petrol removed temporarily and it's vat equivalent removed.

Just had my e mail from ovo. My night time electricity is being reduced from 7p to 3.5p.

Just took delivery of my new EV, and British Gas have changed all their EV tariffs and reduced options. They wouldn't let me switch before because they wanted proof I had an EV.

Octopus on the other hand are telling me I can have 5.5p per kwh from April fixed for a year.

Only issue is that I'm in a contact with British Gas until July, at 24.p per kwh all day any day, but half price on Sundays and power plus deduction of 25% for EV charging.

Feel like I need to spend an entire morning working out which option is best here!

Our fixed rate with Octopus finishes in June.

Is it worth changing now to another fixed rate with them? They’re offering a 10 month fix at £20 more a month based on our usage.

there is usually an exit fee that you can pay, normally £50 for gas and £50 for electricity. if that works out cheaper/similar to the savings then don't wait

My plan is to increase our DD when prices come down in April so building up some additional credit. If prices go up again in July as they will, that will only apply for 3 months so the real kicker will be at the end of September. Our usage particularly of gas is minimal in the summer months so hopefully by September the war may be over but we will have built up a decent buffer for next winter. We're on a fixed rate but I understand Octopus have agreed to reduce the rates in April.

Submitted electric & gas meter readings with Octopus this morning. First ones I've submitted in about six months or so. The credit in my account jumped from £4 to £1,500. I've double and triple-checked the meter readings a couple of times and they're both correct. What the fuck has happened here, and how do I use/reclaim that credit?
