GB News

Online news isn't traditional, and as younger people get older they will become more conservative in general. Fast forward 40 years and their children will be saying that their views will be dying out.

If you're talking about the Love Island generation, don't put them on a pedestal you really shouldn't.

Older people become more conservative in a society where they have a stake. For young people today what is that stake? Less home owners, less pension value, higher debt. People will become more radical, not less.

Respectfully I believe you are wrong, as the younger generation gets older they will become more conservative and the generation that follows them will rebel against them, it's the way of the world it's always been that way.

We are living in an age where iphones, mcdonalds , the right trainers and clothes are necessities, many of the older generation lived in houses that just about stayed up infested with vermin and a trip to the cafe was a Christmas come early , personally I didn't see a taxi until I was 15 and holidays amounted to Filey or Rhyl if we were lucky, not abroad (Stag doos in Amsterdam WTF is all that about?).

That's not saying that younger people have it easy and that they don't face problems because they do, but if you honestly believe that the majority of people stay radical after having children and settling down then there's a surprise waiting for you. Every generation from the flappers in the 20's and the teenagers in the 50's and 60's have been rebels without a cause but at some stage they grew up.

How it started as we know

how its going for the gullible and stupid duped into the culture wars front line

Can't even chase journalists through the street whilst snarling threats at them these days without being arrested. The worlds gone. Bloody snowflakes.

Home ownership will soon become preserved for those who are well off, rare high earners or those who have a home to inherit. It's not too bad up here but I have no idea who is buying homes in the south, you can't get anything down there unless you're on film-star wages and most people aren't.

A second problem is with current property prices, who in their right mind would inherit a home and live in it, even if they are already renting? If I was paying £800 a month in rent and I inherited a house worth £200k then there's no way I'd do anything but sell it to get the cash. That pays for a deposit but it also fuels price rises because I'm now in the market for a house.

Supply is also being helped along by a scheme that increases prices, I.E, price inflated new builds. This scheme is help to buy, yes a scheme that encourages increases in house prices by helping you to pay a higher price. This and the above is the definition of a bubble.

Basically if you can't afford a house but you can afford shares in housebuilding companies then that's probably just as sensible of an investment....

But you're ignoring my point. You're talking about generations who have lived through decades of continuous growth, rising living standards and life expectancy. Things were always getting better. In the West these trends are in reverse.

If you think that a generation of people who are unable to buy their own homes or easily access education to improve their prospects are about to settle down and become small C conservative, think again. Without the stability that previous generations have had, it's just not an option.

The evidence is all around you: do you think Brexit was a conservative move? Was the election of Donald Trump a conservative move? These are radical changes people are voting for. Areas that have been Tory or Labour for generations are switching sides. People are rebelling.

I'm 34. My Dad retired on a public sector final salary pension aged 52. Nobody in my generation will enjoy such a luxury. Millions in his generation are enjoying it.

just flicked over GBeebies... more sound and technical problems, couldn't hear a word a reporter was saying.

they must be losing viewing figures from all this alone.
