These conversations are never about subtle myriad identities. We're nearly always talking about one of three groups:

People born with male sexual organs that identify with the female gender
People born with female sexual organs that identify with the male gender
People who don't ascribe fully to either of the gender groups

It's three groups and it's really really simple to understand.
