A theory which to date has not been defended by any serious or respected scientific institution in the world? Yeah, that's the one they advocate.Isn't this just a variation of the theme or theory that gender isn't biological but is a social construct, and which now gets trotted out as fact to suit certain groups?

Trans people exist, they are valid transmen and transwomen in my view. People are free to feel how they wish, call themselves what they wish. So long as it does not involve projecting themselves and their views on others or causing others harm, I see no issues with someone wishing to call themselves Xe, Xim or Xer... but the belief that we should all be reprimanded for 'accidentally' calling a transperson a 'he' or 'she' is going way too far in my opinion.
This 'belief' that gender is a social construct I believe is them getting confused with the concept of being a "gentleman" and a "lady", which are social constructs. There's also the concepts of masculinity and femininity, as there are many males people could consider to be "effiminate" but doesn't mean they are any less of a man. That's why I personally feel people need to get over themselves if they are told they "aren't a man" and deciding to invent a new "gender" for themselves because they don't like to watch football, boxing or other sport, hate pumping iron and are generally opposed to aggressive behaviours typically associated with 'manhood'.
