I'd gone the vast majority of my life without knowing a gender neutral person and then two have come on the scene in a six month period.... I can't help but think it's a fad/attention seeking thing.

We work with one of these millennials, all overly enthusiastic about his civil rights etc, makes a right meal out of not being born just to follow rules etc. He says he identifies as a fighter jet because gender recognition in its traditional form is wrong. He advocates that recent bullshit about a baby should be asked if it’s ok to have its arse wiped. A proper fucking dick head.

Nature made humans in two genders, male and female. Have all the surgery, meds and chemical alterations you choose to make you happy, but you will still be the gender you were born. We aren't clown fish of band snakes, we can't alter sex. No such thing as 'gender neutral' humans in nature

Whilst I agree that the whole thing does at times get out of hand, you're not accounting for the people whose minds are configured towards one gender and their bodies the other. In other words, their bodies might be born as one gender but their minds are born another - they have no choice in the matter. It's hard for most of us to imagine what that must be like - to feel like your brain doesn't match your body - but I reckon it must be torture.

Yes, they are very much a minority as cases are rare, but for the relatively few people afflicted by it the rate of depression and suicide is awfully high. I think that the small inconvenience that the majority of us have to go through in trying to navigate things like pronouns and toilets is a small price to pay if it saves lives and makes those people happier; as long as they understand that the rest of us won't get it get right all the time.

People who object to gender on political or philosophical grounds are not the same as those who have this innate conflict that they can't help.

Slightly off topic but some relatives went on holiday to Yorkshire recently. They went for an evening meal at a restaurant where there were converted stables, riding school and all sorts of horsey stuff.
