Gene Hackman RIP

How awful that for everything he was and all of the tributes paid to him in Hollywood that they didn't have a single visitor to the house in an entire week.

That's such a sad ending. Dying all alone, not surrounded by family and/or friends. I guess that, in a way, it was a blessing (of sorts) that he had Alzheimers and was likely unaware that his wife had passed away. Sorry if that sounds harsh; it is not intended to be interpreted that way.

Where were the family and friends during the time the bodies were dead?

Such an awful tragedy. I'm surprised they didn't have additional healthcare aside from just his wife caring for him given his condition. I guess her being fairly young still was a factor.

Old people are tight.
Old people are proud.
Old people are convinced they don’t need help.

I’m just surprised that people are shocked by this event.
There are many old people living the same lives of isolation in the U.K.

He was well off surely? Maybe as he got older he trusted people less maybe had a bad experience and had either his wife or himself taken advantage of.

It's very sad in every way.

Big shit show kicking off among the families now as to which one died first.
Makes a big difference to who inherits.
That’ll soak up millions in the courts.

He was. Looking back I think he was very good at playing self confident characters. Wonder if there was a personal reason for that.
Having read a bit about him he was turned down many many times which suggests he must have had quite a bit of self belief about him.

Him and Hoffman were great mates when he started and were voted joint ‘least likely to succeed in an acting career’ which shows the value of those votes!

He was in the Poseidon Adventure?

Yes he was :)
