Probably no more or less than any other government (relatively) if you take out furlough and paying our leccy bills.

Which just goes to tell us that governments are shit with our money. I’ve no issue with the principle of nationalisation for certain things until you tell me the government will run it.

Fair comment, I recall the new NHS IT system being cancelled after the Labour government had spent £13B on it. Absolutely nothing to show for it.

It’s mind boggling how these costs escalate.

I can say, in defence of all politicians, it’s not just governments who get these huge project cost overruns. Private industry does as well - it’s amazing how things can suddenly be a few billion more expensive likes its pence. It does seem to me that they say it’ll cost £x to do it just to get the contract and it started and before you know it, after the go ahead, that’s doubled. Not sure if it’s a unique UK problem, although I think I’ve read similar stories from the US.

I’d also defend anyone who tries to sort out the IT mess in the NHS. So much info recorded on different systems, no consistency between trusts, etc etc. it endemic of the NHS being so resistant to change, I tell my boss to fuck off and I’m fired, a nurse tells her boss to fuck off and they fuck off. It’s why throwing ever increasing amounts of money at it will never cure it - well I say that maybe when people are falling over themselves to work there due to pay and conditions then they can fire those that tell the boss to fuck off. Anyway I digress somewhat.
