A lot of country's seem to get by just fine without nuclear weapons ? What makes Britain so special ?We pay for it but we don't get told how or whether we can use it.

Not true either, it is independent and the PM makes the decision (something Corbyn refuses to do).
If that is compromised and the PM can't decide then the sub captain follows the orders from the PM that are locked in the safe on the sub.
That is not true at all.
There are some issues regarding the conventional arms manufactured in the States that are on the F35 Lightning 2 I believe that have caused some raised eyebrows but to say they have any say on if and when we would deploy nuclear weapons is wrong.
We are of course members of NATO and so in effect our nuclear weapons are at their disposal to a degree of course so in that respect the Yanks are likely to have some input in some circumstances but on that basis so will Albania!

It's on a submarine for a reason and that is why it is called a deterrent and not a weapon.
Thats the idea of having them...never to use them. Nuclear weapons are not the ideal thing to have lying around the planet but they have done a good job of keeping the worlds super powers from resorting to fisticuffs to resolve any differences. Mutually assured destruction certainly seems to keep the politicians in check.
Just heard Bone on the radio saying he supports Boris because Boris told him if we haven't agreed a deal by next December we'll leave with no deal. Don't believe Boris would myself so Bone is being misled IMO.The fact the Brexit hard-liners are supporting Boris' deal is definitely helpful IMO. It means that only those Leavers not listening to any reasoned argument will vote for Farage. He's increasingly marginalised as a bit of a crank who just objects to everything. And whilst there's quite a few unthinking Farage supporters, it's a lesser number than had the Tory right wing been throwing rocks at Boris as well.
Farage is about to reveal his 650 strong army of candidates - all braver than he - who will be standing in this GE for the BP Ltd. All of whom will have paid £100 to the party to be given the right to be considered as a candidate. I wonder - will the unsuccessful ones get a refund? Will any journalist dare ask?
