He was endorsing them the last I heard.

Regardless to bully people by labelling them as being fascists for voting for the Tories is fucking not on.

Bully?

Get over all I said was the three were cut from the same cloth, maybe different levels of that maybe, but still not a great endorsment for the tories having that prick backing you

The same with most of those sells offs. They were discounted so heavily that most who applied for BT or British Gas or any of the other sell off shares the vast majority flipped them to make a fast buck - most of the people I knew who got them did so. The big institutions were happy to pay as they wanted their hands on as many as they could get as the supply to them had been limited and they knew full well there was 30 - 50 years good dividends in those sort of share holdings - Mr Smith from Doncaster just wanted to fund his next car or foreign holiday.
Indeed so. Privatisations have been a worldwide phenomenon and a great success. They've generated huge amounts of cash for governments which have enabled more public spending with any given levels of borrowing and taxation. It's not like Nigel Lawson or Geoffrey Howe made millions for themselves. I am not even sure they would have been allowed to buy any of the damned shares, let alone benefit from the proceeds.

You really are rattled aren't you?
What will be will be. But I just dont think there are enough idiots in the country to vote this clown in. People complain about the cost of Brexit but this guy and his mates would completely ruin this country within 5 years. He is clueless. Its a real shame as the country needs a decent oposition. There are many things wrong with this government and the past few administrations but I genuinely believe voting for Labour would be out of the frying pan and into the fire. Calamitous

The rich are not on PAYE.

You can make it an effective 90% tax rate tomorrow, it doesnt mean your going to get it.

Tax avoidance isn't new and a Labour government isn't going to stop it as no other labour government has ever stopped it.

telling Google, Facebook and Amazon that they are an extension of the treasury isn't going to work either but you know this really.

PAYE? I shudder to think what orifice that trickled down from.

Of course, I totally agree.

Before we even get into the question of whether specific policy A or B makes sense, you have to ask a more fundamental question: Do these people want to make Britain a better place to live in? I am honestly not sure McDonnell passes that basic test. His raison d'etre in politics is to smash the capitalist system. To make "systemic changes" which cannot be reversed. He's 60-odd and this is his last chance saloon. Who knows what on earth the evil shit might try to do.

i'm like 500 posts behind, is everyone still talking about broadband, can i just skip it all? if it is all 'communists this, marxists that, want to privatise the internet' on repeat i'll save myself the hassle. More importantly, did GAM's BT engineer ever turn up?

You seem to miss understood mate.

working 4 days a week will not mean a pay cut.

Honest it wont.

facebook and Google will be paying for it........
As I catch up on this thread - I am expecting to see references to 'Unicorns' - in fact 'Rainbow Unicorns'

Surely I will not find that people have not challenged the 'credibility of these proposals'? -they sound a bit like 'sunny uplands' to me.

I expect that the Labour proposals will be comprehensive - not just with regard to the costs of nationalisation etc. but with regard to the balance of rollout that would have been commercially driven anyway and differentiating the percentage that requires 'state intervention'. Afterall we would not want to be funding £billions of private sector investment for them do we?

Of course we can be confident that Labour/posters do understand this - can we not?

Of course they do - otherwise it might be seen as a simple electoral stunt - to be lapped up by those that do not understand such things

Jesus it’s not just free broadband for homes it’s for all businesses !!!!

Barclays Bank, HSBC, Amazon , shell, Tesco.

free broadband coming your way paid for by the taxpayer.

don’t worry if you work at plusnet sky virgin or the entire broadband market.
For anyone that understands the industry it is utter bollocks - can only be a stunt to be attractive to those that either don not understand or are gullible

For me this is an issue for Labour

They can excite their faithful with stints like this - but don't they need to attract those who are not so 'rose-tinted'?

Seems this broadband initiative has raised the panic levels to 11 on here :)
Maybe people understand the situation(s) that make this proposal to be nothing more that bollocks

I will give you the credit to be one of those and you are just playing games
