have spent my political life working for peace and human rights and to bring an end to conflict and devastating wars. That will almost always mean talking to people you profoundly disagree with. That’s what conflict resolution is all about. But do not doubt my determination to take whatever action is necessary to keep our country safe and to protect our people on our streets, in our towns and cities, at our borders.

I'm not sure sitting around a table will work like it did with the IRA. They want us dead, simple as that

so the Good Friday agreement and the talks with the IRA and their representatives shouldn't have happened?

Funny thing - May has said this Morning Corbyn would fail in the first requirement of being PM - to protect and keep safe the country and its people.

Great she is moving onto her ground now where she is strong - I mean the last Hom Sec and the PM have failed haven't they but strong and stable Theresa ...... hang on a minute.

I am not sure her advisors have pushed her onto the strongest phrasing there...

I don't know what to do. I thought I did but I don't. I fucking hate the tories but do they have a more solid strategy when dealing with terrorists ? Is Corbyn too lax on this issue ? Yes he might help working class families which is good but what about defending our nation

I'm so torn.

You say that you are in doubt, but suggest that the "....strategy when dealing with terrorists...." is important to you. Therefore what I would suggest you do is: - take stock on what happened within 8 mins of the alert going out on Saturday - the threat was ended because the terrorists were dead.

But in those 8 mins 6 innocent people were killed, another fatally wounded and 48 others hospitalised - some severely.

So what would have happened if the police attending were unable to 'shoot to kill' ? How long would the 'escalation process' have taken to get the instruction of what to do? How many others would have died on Saturday - what if the terrorists had been armed with automatic weapons and able to shoot through the windows of restaurants and bars?? How many others would die in future attacks if there was not a shoot to kill policy

Then I would ask yourself which of the 2 possible PM choices has only recently stated that they are against a shoot to kill policy for the police.

Whatever other considerations there are for determining voting intentions - that one alone would do it for me.

I think he's referring to the FACT that McDonnell suggested that the IRA should be honoured for the bombings which brought the British government to the negotiating table. A comment for which he apologised if it caused offense, but notably he didn't actually apologise for the actual statement.

That will be because he will have only been sorry for it being picked up leading to negative reporting - he was / is not sorry for having those views.

That is a disgusting post.

Corbyn has clearly said that when it comes to situations like Saturday night the police should do all that they can to protect as many lives as possible, including killing the suspects if necessary.

There is nothing wrong with Corbyn's stance. If you can catch the terrorists and bring them in - perfect. If you have to kill them, kill them. People trying to gain political points for his stance are idiots.

Not aimed at you at all - but some seem to be associating Corbyn with achieving the peace deal in NI - fuck me that is some re-writing of history - it's not as if he was undertaking some 'even-handed' approach to dialogue with all parties.

He didn't have the power to bring peace to NI but had those that did took his lead thousands of lives could have been saved. That same party who are in power now are still doing the same old shit over and over again with the same old vacuous messages and no hope of any future signs of peace nor security of its citizens.
