Boris would wipe the floor with Corbyn on a TV debate. The guy is a bulldog.

only in the same way trump wiped the floor with Hilary Clinton.

Boris plays to the same fears as Trump. Boris is more intelligent than trump, uses a different schtick, but is just as much a self agrandising populist with little soul, heart or vision other than more power to himself.

You wish.

A mysterious illness the day before an election! It can happen!...

Now, this is much better! Respectful, knows his place.

The 50 ish majority is the favourite at the bookies.
Yes, you could be right, but considering that May is supposed to have blown it, if it turns out
like this, it shows just how ineffectual Labour are. But we'll know manana and whichever side wins can start the
gloat-fest that we all so relish ;)

law makers can make non-domicile pay tax if they wish.
Despite owning three properties in Kensington, valued at £500m, Lakshmi Mittal is considered non-domicile, does not hold a UK passport and retains his Indian citizenship. This allowed him to pay no tax in the UK on the £393.9m dividend from his company. To be considered non-domicile a person cannot spend more than an average of 91 days in the country

I picked him to illustrate my point. He has about 20 homes. (I've met him, incidentally).

Do you honestly think he'd hand over hundreds of millions if we changed the law? He wouldn't, he'd find another loophole.

Incidentally Osborne was changing the laws on non-dom tax to try to fix this. But May sacked him.

...and you find this acceptable ? He should be in prison.

Of course not. When did I say it was acceptable?

But he shouldn't be in prison - he's not broken any laws. He simply pays his taxes elsewhere, where the rates are lower. More fool us for allowing him to do this.

This is why lowering the top rate, raises more money. People like Mittal think it's not worth messng about and they just pay it here. Raise it too high and they exploit loopholes.

1. Tax is taken at source. Claiming reductions for things that are not real is illegal and for which you can go to prison. Most people don't do that.

2. Fair enough

3. I wouldn't. Not because it wouldn't generate any money, but because it would hurt the worst off most, whilst the highest earners wouldn't notice and/or pay it.

think we are going to have to agree to disagree.

You cant take heart that the tories are probably going to win anyway and continue to fuck the country (and especially the poor) over for at least the next five years.
I know you think the tories are doing what best for country...but everyone thinks they are walking on the side of the angels.
