General Predictions - 2023/24

Tight this year i feel with 4/5 teams taking points off each other at the top.
Don’t see Newcastle as one and feel City will miss the two boys that have left.
Impossible to predict the positions of a top 5 but we looked boss at Wembley so we are the boys to beat.
Can’t see this endless injury time doing us any favours either.
We had tough cup draws last year so the opposite might see us going a long way this season but boy did I get a taste for the Champions league and would give anything to get that again.
I’d settle for league or Champions league myself.

We’ve a nice start, on paper
Would be nice to have a winning run at the start of a season for a change and be on top from the off
Would ease a lot of stress

Although just read Peps comments today and he expects us to be off the pace and do our usual then around the turn of the year

Us
Dips
Scum
Arse/Chelski

Dark Horse Villa

Bottom half Brighton

3 from Luton, Sheff U, Wolves or Everton to drop.

Random other bits... We'll win at Spurs
No pens again v scum
Rags will have a new keeper in nets by the end of the season
Pep will extend so he can be here for the new North Stand
Prem/CL double for us with a quad if including the WCC & Super Cup.

Anybody think Sheffield United might challenge Derby’s low score this season? Been an absolutely mingin transfer window

City will be champions.
The hole in the roof at the swamp will not be fixed.
The rags will flatter to deceive.
The rags’ new wonder striker will be a flop.
Gvardiol will be a sensation.
The dippers will be inconsistent.
A bird in the hand will be worth two in the bush.

Top 4 (no particular order because I'm not 100% convinced city will win the PL given their schedule)

City
Liverpool
Chelsea
Spurs/Newcastle (yes Spurs)

Relegated

Luton
Forest
Sheffield Utd.

Surprise package - Bournemouth (Iraola a great manager and have signed loads of good players)

It’s a difficult one to call this season but I still think we’re the team to beat

I think the top six will be as follows

City - Strongest defence in the league by miles and deadly forwards , perfect combination for a title winning team. The only doubt is a very thin squad that could be derailed by a couple of big injuries

Arsenal - they will be the perennial bridesmaids of this current era, decent team on paper but would you taken any of their starting XI over any of ours ? Only Saka at a push , but is he better than Foden or Bernardo ?

Liverpool - Splashing the cash but still big questions over starting with a completely new midfield. Defence still looks suspect , which has been their achiles heel recently. They will score goals though which makes them dangerous. If the midfield clicks they could be in the mix

Chelsea - Pochetino should have them playing as a team and he works well with a young squad. I don’t think they’ll properly challenge though, and I think it will be tight on who finishes top four between them and Utd

United - Seems like they are trying to move to a more possession based team but without the players to implement this style. They don’t have a decent playmaker in midfield that can dictate play but as ever they have pace up front and will be dangerous on the counter attack. Unfortunately for them that doesn’t get you the points you need over the season to win the league.

Newcastle - they were lucky last season that the scousers and Chelsea were complete basket cases. FFP is starting to bite for them now which will hold them back from making the next step. Seems like other teams are raising the stakes with transfers fees to push them out of the equation. Will they be able to break their glass ceiling ?
