General transfer rumours

Give them two fingers. Should have been a little nastier with the Torres sale, higher adds on spread out over two decades, akin to Coutinho never ending deposits.
Why though? whats the point.

Im pretty sure Txiki and Soriano have more important things going on to sit in meetings going back and forth over Torres. We more than doubled our money, got the deal done before the transfer window opened and everyone is happy.

Barca will never do what they did with Coutinho and Dembele, those sorts of transfers were so backward and corrupt they ended up getting rid of the old board.

As for Laporte, im not fussed either way. Good player, strong left foot and has more than played his part since he arrived but we will probably make our money back on any transfer and we have a crop of very talented defenders and 3 very good senior CB's should he go.

This approach is essentially flawed as it leaves no room for negotiation. I don’t know a single club who takes this approach: oh you want to go, just go... Any player who has a slight spark of wanting to leave in them will end up pursuing that. I would also like to see if our guys would make it easy for any club, or if Barcelona has it easier than others.
As for Laporte, whatever you think of him, it’s obvious that he would be missed. This is a player you can’t let go without signing another to his place, for one.
Let's face it, we're not the world's best negotiators when it comes to selling. I suspect that's because it's better to offload an unhappy player 'on the cheap' than risk that player having a negative effect on the dressing room.
The thing is that, once you've done it, you set precedent, and it's hard to refuse similar requests.

Assuming Laporte is allowed to leave, it's more likely to be in the summer than January. In that case, we'll have plenty of time to identify a suitable replacement - maybe from within our own academy.

As I said, I don't think Laporte would be a big loss... providing he leaves in the summer.

So you would be happy for Laporte to go without bringing in a replacement ? What are we a Barca feeder club . They are sat there thinking fucking hell this is easy dealing with Man City let’s go and do them again for Laporte . If he leaves then he goes when we bring in a quality replacement because ake isn’t and never will be a regular first team player .

Manchester City have their eyes on Mattias Svanberg and see him as a replacement for Fernandinho, whose contract expires this summer. Bologna want to extend Mattias contract with a promise to sell this summer instead. [Calciomercato]

We seem to be scouting this kid alot at the min.

Awaiting those posters who have watched his every game since he was at nursery to tell us he’s better than Rodri, Kev and Phil combined but his hair is a bit annoying so we should pass on him.

they paid more than twice what we paid for Torres, if they do that with Laporte i could probably take being their feeder club.

I still think they got Torres for a bargain, and that is not a complaint about what we got for him, it was a fair enough deal all round, particularly as we were selling a player technically still injured.

People seem to be clinging onto only one part of what Pep said about Torres or players wanting to leave. If one comes and says he wants to go, it os fine yhe club will let him go IF there is an appropriate offee. He said it in the summer too when asked about Bernardo, Laporte, he said it during the internationals when Raz spoke of pastures new, he said it about Torres. He'll say it again about Laporte when asked.

If anything, Barcelona should now know all they have to do is pay an acceptable fee and cut all the other crap.

We might all make derogatory remarks about Barcelona and Real Madrid but they'll always have a big pull with our Spanish & Portugese players

Thankfully Laporte is French.
I wonder if he thinks playing in Spain will help him with his Spain International career?
