General transfer rumours

I can't see how they can do it differently. They will still have to pay over the odds to attract better (but not the absolute top drawer) players as we did. Once they do that, the better players will likely come. At present, they are still in the position of, at best, a mid table side with little prospect of winning trophies.

You are spot on and their biggest problem will always be geographical.

Correct, if anything it's been made harder for them

Dunno mate. If you recall, we had to pay top dollar in terms of transfers & wages for essentially England B players in Lescott, Barry, Milner etc, but it worked.

With the foreign brigade of Kompany, Zabs, NDJ etc added the likes of Bellamy, Kolo & Nasri, we essentially improved enough to start attracting the Yaya's, Silva's, Dzeko's, Balotelli's & Aguero's of this world.

Newcastle's future has been made infinitely easier, because they have our template of mistakes & triumphs to guide them in walking the same path we trod.
Good summary that, it does appear that they are starting a little further back than we did with their signings, with only Trippier & Guimaraes on a similar level so far. It also looks like they are thinking of moving ASM on as he is aggravating for a big contract, and that’s where the problem lies (as we found out) players know the club has plenty of money, if they sign a ‘big’ player on massive money then their problems start, they’ll have to make that leap eventually, no way they make CL football without it. I don’t see our early business as mistakes, more a necessity if you want to do it relatively quick (and we did) we rattled the top clubs to get in there, Newcastle so far are taking a different approach, and they’ve got 7 big teams to get past (if you include the rags) I don’t see them getting CL football for a while yet with their current approach

We made errors whether necessary or not in accommodating Tevez in particular.

I'll never forget the embarrassment of the Argentina manager explaining he'd dropped Tevez because his preferential treatment at City was making him unmanageable.

He said every time Tevez wanted more money, he'd call the Sheikh & City would give him a substantial wage rise. Tevez felt like he was above everyone else at City & then thought he could bring that attitude to their National team which incuded Superstars Messi & Aguero! He blamed us for creating Tevez the monster.

The last player to try it with City was Yaya, but the first thing Pep did when he arrived was to dump Touré in the reserves to show who was Boss. Touré left at the end of that season & forever tarnished his City legacy by calling Guardiola a racist.

He's since apologised & City have accepted the apology, but apparently we've made it clear Touré's no longer welcome at the Etihad. Hence no statue, mural or mention of him being a City legend. )(

How does making the best business decision make him a weasel?

Can he not join West Ham next year if no one is willing to pay him 200k?

Or perhaps he'd be so good with Forrest that someone will offer him a long-term Contract at 200k with a signing bonus to boot.

I don't get this complaint.

Let's just say he was a Rag **** and keep it moving. No need to make up flimsy reasons why he sucks :)
This. 200k a week for Forest, about £10m for the season. If they had to BUY a similar player it definitely wouldn't be cheaper. For a player of that experience and quality for them it would be at least 10-15m plus wages. I think it's a bargain for them.

Even if he is annoying, he is a good player for a lower premier league club.

people going on about newcastle will do this and that , so what you're saying is money solves everything , forget you need a top coach , forget you need the top people in every position behind the scenes ,forget about spending millions on the academy , look at everton, united and there's plenty of other teams that have spent millions.

newcastle will struggle, expectations have gone up a couple of notches, last season was a free hit for eddie howe ,just save them from relegation , now they will be expected to win every game, well every game against the rest of the league baring the "top 6", players will want big money, they will struggle this season, howe will be sacked and then they will get someone in who can take them further, but i don't see champions league for them for a long long time , a long way behind city, liverpool, chelsea, spurs ,arsenal, west ham,and even united , they will get into the top ten at best, i would say about 15th imo

regardless i think Howe has done his reputation well just keeping them up and there is sort of an inevitability they will move him on for a bigger fish sooner or later unless he pulls up some big trees. Could see him at Everton before end of the season, would be a good fit.
