Does he fancy Everton though?. I think that might be be the whole crux of the problem.

This is only supposition but say for instance that Txiki had an agreement, with Everton, to sell Joe to them as part of the Stones deal, (say, 25 million, plus Hart for Stones) which in theory would've left us with a £20 million "profit" on the deal. (Which, in turn, would've been enough to buy Bravo.... Happy days, two players in for the total amount that Everton were originally asking for Stones)

Joe is suitably miffed at being pushed out, and won't go there, (who can blame him) forcing City to pay well over the odds for Stones, - Meaning City possibly losing out out on other primary targets as a result. Hence Pep's subsequent hard line stance
