General UFC thread

im not sure if people saw this video from a different angle, and think McGregor was innocent in all this, watch the video from about 2.10 onwards after khabib goes over the side McGregor gets onto the top of the cage one of khabibs corner men goes over the top after khabib and McGregor twats him, thats when the others start on McGregor.

as for a rematch khabib destroyed McGregor and would do the same again.

One of the Nevada reps has come out and said they are revisited the footage and found that McGregor is also culpable so they will be looking to charge them both. He said they are looking at both fines and suspensions but because they have already paid one fighter (McGregor) but kept the other fighters purse, they are looking to expedite this and get the ruling through as quick as November.

Being a protagonist in a melee and being an honourable man are not mutually exclusive though. An honourable man can find himself involved in a melee due to extreme provocation of the sort that team Khabib were subjected to by Conor.

I think your definition of honourable is very narrow and self serving in this discussion. To be honourable is,amongst other things, to do what is morally right. It can certainly be argued that exacting punishment on people who have insulted ones family and religion is justifiable. If this retribution takes place in a melee so be it.
I don't think anybody has come out of this with the honour intact, Khabib's dad has already said he's not happy with it and he holds respect and honour above everything else.

Yep, McG starts the shit in the octagon by throwing the first punch.

at the end of the day UFC owners won, they got what they call free press ?? dirty or not any news is good news and brings in money

I don't think he does have the tools and i don't believe he would be able to learn them in a quick enough fashion to stop Khabib from doing wtf he wants. The 3rd round (although i've watched the fight 3 times now and think it was only slightly in favour of McGregor and no way an easy win as it felt watching it first time) it seemed to be that Khabib was preserving some energy and also wanted to prove he could take Connor's punches, even though they were much less powerful than they would have been early on. The type of wrestling Khabib does looks like its clumsy, looks like its not getting anywhere but its all chained together in one big sequence and that's why its so successful. I rewatched the second Diaz fight where Connor tried to pace himself and after watching that i was convinced he would be beaten in this manner. I just don't think his type of explosive style of fighting can last at the pace that Khabib sets, hell i think if Ferguson could survive from the early shots he would out work Connor.

I have respect for your opinion, but you seem to dismiss that McGregor actually learns. That's quite a crucial aspect in MMA. He'll make the adjustment, he'll get his cardio right up. The second Diaz fight that when he doesn't think he can walk through walls, he notches up, he has something to prove to himself.

That "Good knock. I want a rematch" tweet from McGregor actually shows where his head's at. That wasn't days or weeks after, that was in hours and that, Shev, is self belief restored.

I don't know where Nurmagomedov goes from here, if I'm honest as he's showed his hand and there isn't 'more to come' as you might expect, but just the same kind of grind.

The third round showed me that if McGregor can sprawl through the chains, he would dishearten Nurmagomedov enough to keep this on the feet, like Iaquinta showed the world.

I think McGregor's chance has just improved massively.

I will say, though, in the future a fighter can't have two years off and walk into a title fight. I don't care how good you were, there should always be a 'tune up' fight from 14 months out, at least.

I have think you have NO CLUE of what it means to be professional.

Street honour and ring honour are polar opposites.

When you beat the leader of a gang in a professional manner, you don't then decide to go savage and attack the gang.

You, then, lose the higher ground and become the Tosser.

What a waste of 'honour' that was to gain and lose it within a minute...

Was a sad way for a great ufc night to end. Tony Ferguson is one crazy commited dude rehabilitated his knee on his own. I'd love him to fight khabib and Connor to finish the diaz saga.

That Russian who got sparked out in he last 30 seconds what was he thinking lol where is his fight plan he was winning comfortably just keep your distance and run around till it's over.

If CM doesn’t triple the quality of his ground game in time for the rematch (which is impossible) he’ll get battered again.

Did you not see how one sided it was?.....

Haha!

Yeah, Volkov, I think his name is!

Yeah, can't sleep on Lewis as he's one of two genuine K.O. punchers-out-of-nowhere, in the UFC. He was looking like he was out on his feet so Volkov got brave!

Lewis says he ain't looking for a shot at the title until he can train more than an hour in the gym for cardio! Half an hour sessions got him to where he currently is!!

LOL!!

People said exactly the same re: Diaz.

Believe what you believe, man.

I don't count McG out for nothing with the stand up game and ability to learn, that he has.

First time i've seen this sport live, was at a friend's so it was on. I only know CM because of his farse 'fight' with Floyd, definitely didn't know the other kid. I'm glad Connor got slapped reminds me of Fury, no filter with his mouth. That said, thought Khabib should of just walked off and cashed his chips. Show your the better man by not giving a fuck. Hope he gets the chance to smash him again.
