Wow!

When it was mooted that Derrick Lewis would fight Daniel Cormier in UFC 230, I called bullsh*t.

It was too soon and Lewis needed to up his cardio to have a shot...

Imagine my surprise that this is actually what's happening!! Nov 3rd!! That's a MONTH after his Volkov win!

This says to me that Lewis has no more than all out two rounds to KO Cormier and take that belt as he is 'dead in the water' after that!

So, what happened to Lewis' 'broken hand'...??
Did all this really happen because his balls were hot? ha ha! He literally gained like half a million followers from that fight, it was a perfect storm; biggest event, brilliant comeback KO, amazing post fight interview, funny social activity, all of them are trying to capitalise on it now (UFC, fighter, agents). In reality though i just don't see him lasting long, DC will close the space quick and take him down and get him tired, then sub him. This is a hugely different fight from the Stipe one as Stipe has great wrestling and great boxing so you're not really safe anywhere, whereas Derrick really only has KO power and acknowledges the fact, take him down and it's game over IMO.

B - do you think Bader could fuck up Fedor? I got a bad feeling about that fight and think Fedor is gonna get wrecked.

Yeah, I watched Lewis, himself, say he's no MMA fighter. He thinks that's all bullsh*t with the bowing and 'respect'. He says he's a pure brawler and I agree with you that Cormier ain't going to bother testing his chin against him.

Cormier says he just needs a relatively short time frame to take on Lewis. I think it's disrespectful and he's not really taking Lewis seriously before his 'final fight'.

Lewis, as I predicted, said he's upped his training from his(real talk) 30 min gym workout to 'all day'.

BTW, he thinks Miocic should have gotten the rematch first.

As for Bader? Yeah, he's got Fedor beaten(I thought he retired?!).

Miocic still has the record for number of defences at HW, i find it hugely disrespectful that he wasn't the first to get a crack at the title. They pulled the same shit with Aldo but i understood that more as they were chasing the money fights and Jose wasn't pulling the numbers. I'm not sure this fight will pull the numbers they think it will, they should have actually spent some more money on hyping Stipe as an all-american hero of some sort.

Yep Fedor is still fighting, he didn't officially retire. He KO'd Mir in a could-go-anyway fight where he got clipped early and just recently fucked up Chael pretty easily. But he also got KTFO'd by Mitrione really early in the first round and Mitrione just got dominated by Bader in the Tournament. I realise Fedor still pulls in huge numbers and he is still relatively fast, but i remember when he used to walk through punches from roided up monsters back in Pride days, it's not the same guy.

Cormier injured his hand and has barely trained. On the MMA torch, someone mentioned that he can't punch or grip at the moment (which means that he really cannot do anything.) Even if he heals up before the Lewis fight, he's not going to be at 100% and at the heavyweight division, if you're unprepared or less than fully focused, you're risking getting knocked out.

With what's at stake for Cormier - a fight vs Jones to fight for GOAT status or a huge payday against Brock Lesnar, I'm surprised Cormier is taking this fight. It's as though he thinks he can get away with the lack of prep because Lewis isn't high calibre enough to present a danger.

Yeah, this has all the hallmarks of underestimation, like he did with the first Jones fight.

What do you lot make of this Jon Jones situation? It all seems dodgy to me and everything surround it, such as moving the fight somewhere else and then not reimbursing fighters or fans is pretty disgraceful. I read this morning that Dana, when questioned about fighters being out of pocket, said 'it is what it is'. Not right, personally i won't be attending anymore events in the UK as they have clearly lost the plot and its no longer about the fans and the fighters.

I also saw a post from Frank Mir where he detailed in 2016 under USADA a situation where he was banned for having the exact same thing in his sample and a similar small amount, which Novitsky (who, as a supposed independent body from UFC, is making it look the complete opposite to that by having a huge office at UFC HQ and making live statements in tandem with Dana) tried to convince everyone was the size of a fucking atom or something. At the time, the tested Frank Mir's supplements up to a few months but when Mir queried why they were not checking further back he was told that it was not scientifically possible for it to be in his system that long. And now 2 years after their stance has changed. There is also a post from Tim Means about USADA banning him for taking a supplement that was tainted, whatever came up in his test was not on the ingredients list and was a fuck up by the manufacturer supplier and he could have no way of knowing it would be tainted, but USADA banned him and said it was his responsibility.

It's all a huge fuck up and they've lost credibility completely IMHO. Hopefully Gus gets what he deserves and beats the shit out of Jones.
