Let me just state for the record I think Brian Ortega will be king of the 145/ 155 division.

What 10 days? What was the point??
Eh?
FWIU, The suspension starts on the 15th, and the board is on the 25th...that's 10 days yes, but the 25th is when the length of suspension is to be decided.
I'm glad we're talking about the fight now instead of the circus :)
So w.r.t Laquinta, he was taken down at will and throughout his career he has shown his a good wrestling base. I don't believe you can take that fight as a context for judging Khabib's takedown acumen as he has shown that he can, consistently, takedown fighters throughout his career. If you can name me a fighter that had any period of success (bar a Michael Johnson shot that is wildly overrated by Rogan) then i'm all ears.
Agree his accuracy was off, but he's not usually worrying about being taken down as much. The only pure bread wrestler he fought was Mendes and he double legged him and kept him there (IIRC) and then clearly gassed. Eddie Alvares is a great wrestler but he's never chosen to use that skill in his fights, he's ALWAYS been hit-able and that was clearly going to be a bad match up against a sniper like Connor.
I do agree that he can defo improve on his wrestling defence if just to nullify some of the attempts, but the KEY to everything IMO would be to learn more than hip escapes and learning to not fall into Khabib's traps after he takes him down. I think Khabib has sufficient enough understanding of the stand up game to last there and an overwhelming advantage in the clinch to control the fight.
I'm sure you've already listened to the JRE with Coach Kavanaugh, looks like they had analysed Khabib and knew they would be in certain positions but couldn't stop them.
As for legacy, i think Connor's legacy is cemented win or lose. The fight i REALLY want to see is his vs Holloway because the first was a good scrap and Holloway has improved a lot since that fight and so has Connor.
if he doesn't fuck up beforehand...again.Talking of Johns... Jon Jones back for UFC 232.
Takes Gustafsson on for the vacant belt.
Dunno if I'm bored with this match up again.
if he doesn't fuck up beforehand...again.
I think Jones vs gus is the perfect fight. His closest fight, and a much harder fight than any at heavyweight.Jones v Gus,,,, meh.
Who the fuck cares????
Jones needs to move up the heavy,, where he's belonged all along, D.C needs to stay there too but they should make jones work his way up the rankings with at least 4 fights before they even think about doing a rematch.
make the heavies interesting and also breathe new life into 205 div again,, its been like the fucking SPL for years with those two (albeit even more one sided than the SPL, but you get my drift)
