both the top card fights were quality last night, although i do think melvin was a bit too defensive

the takedown and knee by the mauler was awesome....poster boy is just not ready yet for the title shot.....the irony is he turned down several lower card fights to get a shot at the title

gotta love the fact that forrest griffin said both these guys would have taken him out in his prime though.....ufc has advanced

Forrest is being kind, believe me. At his best, brief though it was, Forrest Griffin was one tough mofo.

i think he was talking about conditioning and stamina rather than fighting technique

I'd agree with that.

Be lucky to get a round and half of quality before he gassed!! LOL!!

Saying that his first fight with Stephan Bonnar went the distance and still is regarded as the 'first' classic!!

Still remember it to this day!!

I liked the undercard fight with Neil Seery. Only 2 weeks notice and he didnt let himself down in defeat. Has great stand up power but wrestling he will need to work on. I dont know if his age of 34 will prevent him being on UFC again but after that showing he I hope gets another go. I think he could well give a few of the top 10 fighters a run for there money dont think he will be a UFC champion but he will go and give it his all.

From DigitalSpy

Over on Channel 5, 591k (3.01%) tuned in to see Alexander Gustafsson take on Jimi Manuwa in UFC Fight Night Live from 9pm.

Good stuff considering it wasn't advertised at all. They need to change the presenter though. I read he asked Forrest Griffin, "do leg kicks hurt?"

Video of Anderson Silva starting to do kicking just 10 weeks after snapping his leg. Insane.

After surgery they said 6 weeks to fully heal so considering how strong these guys are no surprise to see him kicking light stuff again

More like 6 months. The surgeon said minimum 6 months and up to 9-12 months if you have the titanium rod out.

Think he's pushing it a bit or at least giving the impression of healing fast as he still has a lot of sponsors to please such as Nike.

Crazy! If he does get into the octagon again I wonder if he'll put 100% into a kick with that leg or will the break always be in the back of his mind.

i can answer that from a personal point of view, having had leg fractures, etc in the ring before

NO, it shouldn't affect him, however, YES, it will

its not just throwing the kicks though, the shin and leg is used to block and this could also play on his mind defensively

I think he will adapt to kick with either leg, but mainly use it as the support position, so orthodox, for him.

Any kicks will be front ones rather than shin based, I think.

Glover teixeira to flash ko jones in their up coming fight.

I can't call this one. Jones has a hell of a chin and is faster than Texeira who has the knockout power.

They both didn't look great in their last matches.

Weigh-ins for UFC 171 : Hendricks v Lawler.

Many are overweight, pretty surprising which ones that are.

Glover is one tough sob. He will give jones a real test and I belive he can put one on him hard enough to ko.
Or jones freakish reach will get him tbe win.

Gustafsson took Jones as far as he is going to be taken imo. He'll only lose to a lucky punch, if you could design the perfect UFC fighter, then you would end up with Jon Jones.

I'll be surprised if Texeira wins against him. I believe their match up is next month?

If Jones wins I can see them doing the rematch with Gus probably on July 4th weekend.
