General Videogame Thread

Yep, Scotland.

All media says release time in UK is midnight tonight but clearly not for all lol.

Fuck it I'm having a few hours in an A-10C on DCS instead.
It could be Microsoft are staggering downloads due to demand. Heard Microsoft are expecting this to to be their second most downloaded single product in a day ever after windows 10

So on a 980ti, i7-6700k, so a few years old, it defaults to high end. Is installed on a conventional hard drive and struggles sometimes. Going to source a big enough ssd and see what happens then. Also, OT looks shite!

You must be unlucky man. Been waiting for years for this so I hit download at 12:00:01 last night and it worked!

Literally built a new pc for this back in May but I also have xplane and DCS so I'm not exactly cold turkey right now.

Did you get the standard or deluxe and if so, is it worth the extra?

Got standard in gamepass when it eventually downloads but will no doubt end up with deluxe anyway.

Big into flight sims, this one looks amazing.

Heard the planes are dreadful though, arcade worthy but 3rd party developers should fix that over time.

That would go against the usual experience of low FPS on the ground and in airports etc whilst gaining FPS at altitude for a flight sim.

It was inside the cockpit so there was not much by way of changing imagery, I suspect that's why? Not sure.

EDIT: Here's the video. It's only the first 20-30s where he's at 60fps

Update, still no joy for free standard edition with gamepass so imagine my surprise when i enter my card details to purchase the premium deluxe version and it immediately starts downloading the twats!

External camera view doing that but until ive played myself im only guessing as to what real FPS is going to be like.

So long as its smooth 30 isnt bad on a flight sim and the photo scenery and weather in this thing is way beyond anything else on offer and will really hurt performance. Fast internet is also a must.

My FPS is middling low down, gets better up high as standard. I was waiting to see how it ran before doing a new build for it. I'd be quite content as is but think the bank cards going to take a beating before the weekend now as I'll likely put hundreds of hours in. Same reason I waited on buying the full version - just gamepass at the mo. @blueinsa

Out of interest what did you put together?

Went for a Ryzen 5 3600X on a X570 mobo so im future proofed on upgrade path with Ryzen CPU's which imo are only getting better and offer incredible value. Stuck a RTX 2080 super OC in which was very expensive along with a 4 GB hard Drive, a 2GB SSD and a 1GB SSD for windows. Also got 32 GB DDR4 3600 ram installed. Got a 2k monitor as frankly my eyes are not upto 4k anyway anymore.

TBF guys the performance has been scatty all day so you've been best off. It's late and now the big rush has died down it's running and looking lovely, especially if you get away from heavily populated (player wise) areas.

I had a nasty crash on my pc yesterday during Flight Sim, think I’ll uninstall and wait another month or two for the updates to kick in. Not sure if the crash was actually related to the game but it gave me a bit of a scare. Only way I could actually switch off/shut down was by the psu. Could be a pending motherboard issue but I’m no pc expert so I’ll just wait and see.
