General Videogame Thread

After a 3 or 4 year hiatus, I’m back playing games again. I don’t have a console I’m playing on my laptop with an Xbox controller. Noticed that Xbox game pass is available on PC... is it a no-brainer to subscribe to this? Or is it not worth it?

This seems a nice way to have access to over 100 games overnight?

Worth trying for a quid for the first month.

The games are never yours as it's like a renting kind of deal but they let you keep the game until they remove it and you do get some awesome titles. GOW, HALO and Forza Horizon 4 is a great game if you like racing.

On game pass you download them, right, not sream them like most of PlayStation now?(which I accidentally subscribed to and is fucking terrible)

Yeah, love Forza. I have only played the early ones where it wasn’t an open world, so looking forward to trying Horizon 4 on game pass.

So is game pass basically a way they try to get you to buy the games? You get hooked on a game, they take it away and you then have to pay for it? That is a little bit off putting if it’s like that. Does every single game on it get taken away at some point? Or are some permanent fixtures?

I think the idea is to have as many subscribers as possible so they can market it to advertisers. The main exclusives seem to stay on. Its the multiplats that come and go

Yeah it's great and it's in the UK and is a mixture of places in Cumbria and Scotland. Really cool to drive around and see some British countryside and recognisable places like Edinburgh and Ambleside. I suppose you could look at it that way. I just look at it like renting a game until they ask for it back lol One downside is that games can be removed before finishing them yes, I'm not sure if titles have a certain amount of time on there or what. I was getting into Kingdom Come Deliverance and it got removed so that annoyed me. Some recently added great games are Outer Worlds and Fallout 76 and Red Dead Redemption 2 so they should be on a good while and are pretty immersive open world games.
