General Videogame Thread

The first game was pretty much funded from the gaming community. I think It cost me about 20 odd quid but I thought it was a project worth getting behind originally.
I bought the first one but it didn't seem to like my old pc and I eventually moved on, this one is much better optimised and runs extremely well.

That was the last thing I did today. He taught me some moves and then said I had to beat him before he’d teach me the master strike. I tried once and he battered me so will pick up it again tomorrow.
There's an easy way to win that fight.

Go to the herbalist in the camp and buy the bane poison. It decreases health and stamina over time. Before the fight cover your blade in it. Hit him once and then just back off or block his attacks.

Once he's down to about the third of his health he'll stop the fight and say you've won and he'll give you masterstrike.

Also getting your dog Mutt is really good for combat as well as if he's attacking an enemy you can get a few strikes in

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is my favourite game of all time. I never expected to be saying that, but I’m 60 hours in already and have barely scratched the surface - still on the first map. Everything about this game is perfect for me. It’s not a game for everyone but the people that it is for will absolutely love it. Has elements of what made Skyrim, Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 so great. Been a long time since I’ve played a game that I simply cannot put down. Usually I have 2 or 3 games on the go at any one time. But KCD2 has taken all of my gaming attention, it’s incredible.

I’m loving it because it requires time and patience to progress. I’ve probably only played about 15 hours so far and it’s fucking hard at first as any kind of conflict has resulted in me being dead. Managed to finally get some coin together and get some better armor and a sword and I’m just doing side missions and getting the hang of everything. I dread to think how many hours I’m going to sink into this game.

Yeah I was the same. I’d struggle 1v1 never mind against 2, 3, 4 or 5+ at once. But because progression comes from doing, your in-game character is getting stronger all the time, then you have the combat training, learning new combat techniques etc, plus you start unlocking helpful perks, then you master the masterstrike and it just starts to click. I went from actively avoiding combat to seeking it out. Especially once I got some great armour and could tank more hits. Just keep plugging away, it gets easier.

For someone who hates FPS games, I'm actually really enjoying High on Life, which is one of the monthly PS Plus games for February. I imagine real FPS fans will think it's a bit rubbish and basic, but the humour is getting me through quite nicely.

With Sony deciding that as of 2026 PS Plus will no longer give out PS4 games, only PS5, I decided to push myself to try as many as I can before my subscription ends in April, as there's little point in my renewing beyond that. As I've put my back out sounds like I'll have plenty of chance to get through some games this next week.

I think the only other first person style game I've enjoyed to this levels is the original Dead Island. My plan is to work through the catalog as much as possible, then in April or May instead of renewing I may splash out on KKD2, which hopefully will have dropped in price a little by then also.

Sony even had an offer on for renewing PS Plus membership recently, but apparently I didn't qualify as I had more than 3 months remaining. Probably shows also how unconcerned they are about the current lawsuit ongoing about their suggested monopoly on digital PlayStation games and memberships.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3/4 announcement tomorrow apparently. Even some wild rumours it could shadow drop which I think are highly unlikely.

I'm rather excited

It's an amazing game and like @Scottyboi said Phantom Liberty DLC could be it's own game it's that good.

The actual main story you could probably get though in about 30 hours however Night City and the surrounding area is so dense with things to do you could easily play for over 100 hours and still not see everything
Cyberpunk 2077 alongside The Last of Us were the titles that brought me back to gaming after a decade not bothering or not really being able to . It’s phenomenally good.

Been taking it slowly and really enjoying it. The skill development and how little perks impact your abilities is just outstanding. Earning coin at first was hardwork, but now I’m more confident in fighting I can handle situations and make money much easier.

The story and dialogue can be a little bit stop start at times but overall it’s an amazing game. Currently I’ve just escaped the Trosky Castle in some underground tunnel and got a feeling the game will really open up now.

Split Fiction gets released tomorrow. It looks like an excellent co-op adventure that I'm very much looking forward to playing.
I might leave it for a couple of weeks though to see what the feedback is like on how well it runs before buying it.

It's getting 9-10/10's across the board at the minute I think it's a safe bet to dive into head first.

Looking like a second GoTY runner from hazelight. They're not my thing, I game solo nowadays but I'm really glad to see a small company continue to grow by producing something refreshing, unique and most of all doesn't try to rinse the player for every penny possible. The 1 game for 2 players thing they have in place is brilliant. Hope it does well and I'm sure it will.

Might get it for this weekend then. I've watched a review a while ago but don't wanna watch anymore as to not see too much. I saw enough to know it'll be great.

It Takes Two got my missus into playing games with me, which we've played every Xmas break since it's release, so that's who I'll be playing this with first.

Excited about that! I’ve been keeping an eye on steam regularly for new releases, but to be honest, there haven't been many games lately that really catch my interest. It's like there’s a lot of new content coming out, but not much that feels fresh or different. I’m really hoping something will pop up soon that grabs my attention.
