General Videogame Thread

Ps5 owner tip. Give God of War a go. Fuck me its an upgrade on the ps4 version. Looks incredible in 4k.
Played it on a ps4 pro at 1080p 60fps mode, worked perfectly and was amazing from start to finish, in my top 5 of all time.

Didn’t play the original but after watching a review and clips of the game it will be my first purchase when I finally get my hands on a ps5. Looks absolutely amazing.

You don't even have to buy it! Comes free to PS5 owners with playstation plus.

Question please:

Say I bought a PS5 and inserted my PS4 Witcher 3 disc in. Would the game speed be rapid and graphics upgraded to 4k (on my 4k TV). Is it as simple as that?

Nah. Depends on the game. Not every game will be automatically upscaled. Loading times etc will be faster across the board, but graphics wi be on a case by case basis. I think what I'm getting now is the ps4 pro versions of the game, but i guess most didn't have a pro console so it's quite novel.

Additionally, some companies have released a patch specially for the ps5 to update their games. Ghost of Tsushima for example. Give it a Google though. You can find out if there any updates for specific games by googling their name and PS5 i reckon

Edit - googled it. The Witcher 3 is getting an update and it will be free! https://www.theverge.com/2020/9/4/2...-free-upgrade-console-xbox-ps5-pc-ray-tracing

Cheers pal, yeah will be novel for me as I've not got the PS4 pro so games are in 1080p (I think).

The faster loading speed on Witcher would be epic. I got put off with open world games due to loading speeds and couldn't casually pick up and put down so they are gathering dust on the shelf.

Who said it was average? :)
Take away the graphics and what are you left with?

Bad and comical AI. Bugs. Bad lypsyncing. More bugs. Sure its fun for a while but the AI is still stupid. I killed some churchmen because thats what vikings do, oops game over. Why?

I do like the combat. And the cut scenes apart from some weirdness in them on the odd occasion.

Its the best of the series, at least its not stopping me exploring properly like black flag did, but its not rdr2 or gta5 levels is it.

Maybe I was a bit harsh saying average, it is a good game but its so frustrating at times.

Its the same with most Ubisoft games.

Division 2 still judders on dx11 unless you have core heaven and crashes on dx 12. They won't fix it as they are working on number 3.

Watchdogs looks good but is no fun after a while.

Ghost Recon Wildlands has laughable ai and driving mechanics.

I liked far cry 5 though.

God of War does the whole Norse thing better and with more panache. Plus in 4k it looks beautiful.

I don’t know if it’s intentional, but my Steelseries Arctis 7 sound completely different on my PS5 than they do on my PS4. Not in a good way either, everything sounds slightly less quiet. Has anybody else noticed this or could they point me in the right direction of what to do?
