General Videogame Thread

I have Xbox game pass for pc. I wanted to have a look at GTA but it won’t let me install. Do I need an Xbox or does anyone know a work around? Thx.

Looked at that thought I read it as if I had the Xbox addition then on game pass it’s 14:16?

Yeah Skyrim is automatically included in game pass so download Skyrim first and then you just pay the £14:16 for the upgrade.

Skyrim has just had a 25GB update today. Some free quests, fishing, faster loading times and 4K resolution and 60fps. Survival mode is also included now. That's all free.

The upgrade fee (£14:16) just gives you more creation club content like more quests weapons, armour ect but to be honest you can get all that for free via mods. My Skyrim is modded to death ( around 80 mods on the Xbox) so I won't be upgrading. Just tried it and my modded game looks beautiful in 4K and the loading times are almost non existent.

Thinking of starting a new game in survival mode

No worries. I would definitely go now the mod route before paying the upgrade fee. Got my mods from this video. Really easy to follow but it does take time to do. Took me about 2 hours but is worth it. It's really important to load the mods in the exact order as on the video as the game could crash.



This is what Lydia looks like on my game. As you can see it's a big difference and this is the city of Morthal in 4K

They’ve took some of the best songs out the game due to licensing. Video Killed The Radio Star not being in Vice City puts me off buying it.

It's now been removed.

Probably a subversive act by a lone developer, quality control would have been unlikely to have been able to read Arabic and spot that a section of the Quran was in the game.

Most written text on in world paper pages is at such a low resolution or quality it can't be read, or it is gibberish or dummy text. Doesn't really add anything to this game to have religious texts on the floor.

Yeah, i'm holding off too. Reading a number of reviews and seeing that 24 songs have been removed,
there's no Michael Jackson and no Ozzy Osbourne and it appears that it's a reskin of the 10th Anniversary. The "modern GTA controls" haven't really been changed much and it's a £30 game being sold as a £60 one. Grove Street Games could have made mroe effort but it looks like they haven't (even reports that the 'rain' in GTA 3 makes the game virtually unplayable). The lack of fog makes the entire map look tiny (you can see Mount Chilliad from Grove Street)

Hopefully patches will come out to fix these issues, but i'm on the whole quite disappointed that they've made relatively little effort when they promised so much. It's worth getting, but not for £60.

I tried the beta, and have got EA Play, so spent a few hours last night. I think it's terrible. The guns have zero feel, the movement on the game is trying to mirror COD but it's nowhere near as good. I also think the maps are too big, you spend half your time running around.

I don't even think the graphics are impressive.

The portal is a good function, but it's a shame the gameplay let's it down.

Yep excalty the same feeling. They've tried to make it too much like warzone and having "specialists" is just a complete Rip off from rainbow 6 Siege.

Portal is a really good idea and playing classic maps and modes is great and making your own games and rulesets is a good idea but it's too easy to exploit and farm xp.

Lots of the maps created just contain AI with 1 HP and if you play thses maps for about 5-6 hours you've unlocked every weapon and attachments in the game. XP is tied to all 3 modes so there's is zero sense of progession.

Glad I got the 10 hour free trial as no way is it worth buying in this state.

You would of thought Dice and EA would of learnt their lessons from Battlefront but they haven't

100%. What made Battlefield unique was that it had its own identity, now it's a rip off of other franchises, and what it tries to copy it doesn't do anywhere near as well.

My guess is it'll be on Gamepass within six months as an attempt to get the player base up.
