General Videogame Thread

Such a good game, especially with Phantom Liberty.
I can't wait pal! I've just completed days gone including hordes and side missions, I've spent hours enjoying that game and looking forward to a new game.

Bought it over a year ago and played about an hour, it’s on my to play again this year, starting afresh as I can’t remember what to do, it looks fantastic and I’ve heard it’s great niw all the bugs have been sorted.

It's an amazing game and like @Scottyboi said Phantom Liberty DLC could be it's own game it's that good.

The actual main story you could probably get though in about 30 hours however Night City and the surrounding area is so dense with things to do you could easily play for over 100 hours and still not see everything

Cheers mate, looking forward to getting stuck in!

If you're new to the Cyberpunk universe it might be worth watching a couple of YouTube videos explaining the lore and history as there are a LOT of characters and events which can seem confusing. I would recommend this one. It has no spoilers for the actual game but gives insights into the characters you meet and events what happened before the game

Thank you, will give this a watch tonight after the footy

So they bloody well should have, back in November. No surprise at all. The only way out of this PR mess for them now is to offer a free season 24/25 update (which you can get for free pretty much anyway via fan sites) and the release a stonker of a game earlier than usual, say to coincide with the new season starting.

Im more than happy with playing last years release for another six months anyway. Just left Tenerife after winning three champions leagues on the bounce to take over from Pep, who left to go to PSG.

Just trying to debate with myself on whether to go for civilization vii. The mixing of leaders with different races would take some getting used to, but more than that is the fact that I know in just a few months the game will be 90% off but with oodles of full price dlc.

Probably the best 1st person I've played in many years is the new Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, I have it on PC, it's beautiful, immersive and very well optimised on my now lower-mid range PC.

Amazing game, so far and I can see no reason why that should change throughout my playthrough, given that I've played only about 15 hours or so and have hardly scratched the surface.

@daveiw01 Yeah I've played at 20 hours and it absolutely phenomenal. Sets a new benchmark for immersive RPG's. Bethesda, Ubisoft ect need to take a look at this and see this is how open world games should be made.

Playing on a Series X and it looks gorgeous. The story and the writing is stellar. Apparently there's over 2 million lines of dialogue and it's brilliant how the world reacts to you and how your choices really do matter and have huge consequences.

The combat is brutal but entirely realistic for the period it's set in. I was really struggling at first but I did the Tomcat mission and learnt the masterstrike move which makes combat more intuitive and enjoyable.

Can easily see myself sinking 100 hours plus into this game. Hard to see any game topping this as game of the year and it's only February.

Anyone who likes RPG's really do need to play this

Is it open world and character developing type? Been ages since I’ve got stuck into a good RPG and this really appeals to me.

Yeah open world with 2 huge maps. It's definitely a slow burn though especially in the early hours which can put people off as you literally start with no skills, no weapons ect and the game introduces you to all the games mechanics.

It's a bit like Skyrim where the more you do stuff say combat or horse riding the better you become but this isn't fantasty it's a realistic medieval sim and at the start everything is slow and methodical. For example making a sword you have to use a forge then hammer it into shape and that can take 5-10 minutes. If you don't wash or bathe after a couple of days NPC's will actually comment on your appearance and refuse to give you quests or merchants will refuse to trade with you. One thing I learnt after a couple of hours is that if you walk around a town at night without a torch guards will arrest you.

The way the world reacts to you is on another level as well. I murdered a NPC as part of a quest and hid the body. I left the town for a couple of days and when I returned I was immediately stopped by the towns bailiff who advised me they found the body and as I was the last person to be seen with him I was the number one suspect. Luckily I passed a charisma check to talk my way out of it.

Think of it like Red Dead Redemption 2 but set in medieval times and it leans into more more realism. You can't just into to a village and start a fight, run off then return a couple of days later and everyone will of forgotten. The villager's WILL remember and attack you on sight.

I'm 20 hours and only now I'm confident to take on one or more bandits at anyone time.

Could tell you loads more but read/watch some reviews to see what you think. But if you're looking or an extremely realistic, immersive RPG I really can't recommend this highly enough

Sounds really good and my kind of game. Cheers

Absolutely!

They made the first one free on epic a few weeks ago in order to drum up hype for 2. That kind of thing usually really isn't my bag but really liking it. For sure will be getting 2 when I've finished the first.

The first game was pretty much funded from the gaming community. I think It cost me about 20 odd quid but I thought it was a project worth getting behind originally.

Bit the bullet and bought it today. Played about 5 hours and it’s stunning. Starts off really slow but that’s ok for me as it pushes you to get into the story and feel of it.

My one gripe so far is the combat. Feels really clunky and lumbered, but that is probably more to do with me getting used to the controls and getting my character built up a bit. Money and food seems hard to come by early on so just trying to do a few little quests and easy stuff early on.

Yeah combat can be brutal at first but you can make it easier early on.

After the prologue you end up in Troskowitz speak to the begger Barra. Ask her how to improve in combat. She'll recommend to go to the trainer Tomcat. I would highly recommend to visit him as soon as possible as he teaches you a few new moves including masterstrike. Masterstrike is brilliant. It's a parry/attack move which enemies cannot block. It makes combat much more manageable

That was the last thing I did today. He taught me some moves and then said I had to beat him before he’d teach me the master strike. I tried once and he battered me so will pick up it again tomorrow.
