George Floyd murder | Clashes between US police and protestors

It's odd then, that the first and only criticisms I've seen of his actions have come on this website. You'd think if the matter was as straight forward as you're making it out to be then he'd be widely condemned but that's the exact opposite of what is happening.

I'm not really just having a pop at him ( I posted about him because he was mentioned on the thread) although he has most certainly not taken note of what a pandemic is and he and the other marchers be they black or white have shown no respect to the thousands of deaths and the people who put themselves on the line for us daily so we can be safe.

And it's straightforward, BAME communities and people are adversely affected by this virus and they chose to put themselves their families and the wider public at risk. It's not a question of they have to go out now and take chances with this epidemic it really isn't.

It has been repeated on CNN a few times

He was a violent criminal who had served seven yrs,it doesn't take much more to make up my mind and he had fake money

That is not the point though,he did not deserve to die at all let alone like that, that is not my point ,i feel as sick as any other right minded person ,
if this changes peoples lives for the better then it will not have been in vain,i am not comfortable with his angel image I suppose

As I said,i separate the murder from my uncomfortable feelings about the other things that I mentioned,i am not sure an armed robber should be getting a police escort to his funeral by cops, some of whom have probably roughed up black and ethnic for years

Something about the cops all acting that they are the only bad apples in the forces also doesn't sit right

Just musing in my current all over the place mood
I've been to the USA many times. I myself have been passed fake bills; once in a bar in LA and once in a bar in Northern CA, and both $5 bills. Had I not noticed the following day I could have easily found myself on the wrong side of the law.

I can see where your concern is coming from but our priorities are obviously different so I'll have to respectfully disagree.

There are two separate issues here happening simultaneously.

The true resolution to one of those problems can only be seen solved by scientists and the other has to be resolved by the common people.

Inactivity might slow the spread of Covid but it won't solve anything.

And I'm not sure you're fully aware that you are equating flouting social distancing guidelines to literal murder but I want to make you aware that by saying "he's campaigning for police to follow the rules but breaking them himself", you're straying awfully close.

That's a scousers excuse. The people help solve both by obeying the rules on both. Failure to do so undermines and invalidates the positive intentions.

To put the hyde park thing into perspective. yes it will probably cause some infections, of that there is no doubt. but they were, by and large, spread out, with masks and hand sanitiser given out. and totalled maybe 5k people at a push, the total effect here will be small compared to easing lockdowns across the country. there were probably more people on the beech where people where injured tombstoning.

A couple of weeks pre lockdown we had loads of football matches at ranging up 60k people, a match at Wembly with 90k people and Cheltenham at 251k people. with no masks and no hand sanitiser stations etc.

Most of the people on this forum wouldn’t know who he is.

What a silly little comment.

The people help solve both by obeying the rules on both.

Can you find the words to explain how following rules helps resolve the issue of systemic racism across the United States, police brutality or any other civil rights issue?

Action solves problems, not obedience.
