George Floyd murder | Clashes between US police and protestors

i honestly thought the protests in London yesterday passed without any incidents.

Unfortunately a minority ruined it.

Candice Owens (think thats how i spell her first name)

She's done a 18 minute video which raises a number of issues (many i didn't know) over this whole mess whether its information on the history of the deceased, the police or the american public's reaction.

One question that I am sure people have suggested.

IF we are allowing people to turn up to protests on masses, surely the government will have to end the lock down restrictions? As I suspect plenty more won't listen to governments instructions now?

I was truly shocked by some of the videos posted from London yesterday - police being swamped by raging mobs, kicked, punched, even TV crews getting attacked. This mindless violence will achieve nothing. It's a hard watch seeing UK police in plain uniforms - literally there to keep the peace - getting attacked and overwhelmed.

The last thing I expected to see was a corporate message that was this strong:

https://www.benjerry.com/about-us/media-center/dismantle-white-supremacy

Pointing to specific bills and legislation is honestly the way to do it. Kudos to them, genuinely.

If you're going to participate in #blackouttuesday, then don't just post a black image and then duck your head back into the secure bubble you were living in. The whole point of #blackouttuesday was to get ordinary people discussing the issues. My social media feed were filled with, probably well meaning people but who had never uttered a word about racist issues before, post on #blackouttuesday with no accompanying message and then not a peep about the issues since - that smacks of just wanting to be a part of a popular trend in an abstract way without having to think about the uncomfortable truths the hashtag movement is supposed to represent.

Just seen a clip of an Australian News company, being attacked and chased.

I suspect the ones at the weekend will have a lot more people show up.

Did you see the one with the Australian reporter in London, where some loon ran up and grabbed he, holding a screwdriver and shouted - I won't write it - an Islamic phrase? She was terrified, screaming live on air!! Some members of the public chased him off and the police caught him. He's going to, thankfully/hopefully, serve a very long prison sentence.

I didn't see that.

Did see one with a male news reporter from Australia.

He had his microphone taken from him and they had to flee from the minority ruining it

That's what it has become and in the main that's all it is now, it's just political and it's getting violent, My little neck of the woods was treated to about 15 people with placards most of them teenagers carrying placards laughing and joking, probably because they saw something on twitter.

There are no uncomfortable truths because people who see murder like we saw in America by cops, it's abhorrent disgusting and downright evil. If you are poor from any demographic you have probably suffered the same prejudices , as a person from a poor background I can't relate to people asking me to take responsibility for slavery or to accept that I should face an uncomfortable truth regarding something I had no say in, it just isn't relevant to me.

What's relevant however is the pain I felt for this chap as they murdered him, because he's human and it disgusted me, but as you rightly pointed out all it's become is #letslookclever or an excuse to beat police up or endanger people by meeting up in the 1000's.

Peaceful protests have led to all 4 officers being charged and universal condemnation.

Peaceful protests which also consisted of thousands of attendees flouting the same social distancing guidelines.

There's also a lot to be said of the huge amount of eyes on the US right now and the political pressure to deal with not only the four police officers arrested for the killing, but also other instances of abuse which have been made available to watch online for anyone who wishes.

That pressure doesn't stick without the presence of those cameras and those cameras will be much fewer and further between without the continuation of the protests.

The police’s job is more than to keep the peace. They are also there as a tool of the establishment. That is inevitable, given their role within that establishment. That will inform their behaviour too.

These are the modern day social justice warriors that scream for attention and lashes out at anyone that gets in their way, or doesn't nod their head in agreement. It's a shame America's problems end up causing a riot in the UK.

While they scream about the injustices of another country, they're potentially killing people with their lergies where they live. its one big joke.

Yeah, agreed. I understand all that. They were probably ordered to appease the crowd because BLM is basically an establishment operation to begin with, similar to XR. Astroturf rather than grassroots.
