Just on this, black Americans are 3 times more likely to be killed by police than white Americans but 6 times more likely to be imprisoned than them. If it follows that police are more likely to be encountering and arresting black Americans on the proposition that they're more likely to be suspects in a crime (and I accept it might not) then the statistics aren't as damning for the US police. Obviously, there's lots of other interpretations including the idea that black people are more likely to go to prison because they're more likely to be investigated or stitched up for a crime, or that the justice system is simply more racist than the police.

It would be interesting to see how the UK compares.

One of the hurdles to having a revolution of the magnitude you’re presumably advocating, is that a significant proportion of America, let’s call them ‘mainly Trump supporters’ isn’t on the side of the protesters/revolution. A lot of those same ‘mainly Trump supporters’ are probably armed to the teeth, and quite a few would look forward to an opportunity to bear their arms and fire their built up reserves of ammunition using those bump stocks they’ve been collecting. There’s possibly more chance of a civil/racial war in the US than of a revolution. The country is becoming more and more polarised.

For any revolution to properly take hold and succeed it needs the broad support of the bourgeoisie. Don’t see that happening anytime soon, anywhere in the western world, but if wealth inequality continues along the same path, then in time, it might.

ALL politicians will have negatives and it's very easy to pick holes.

No one is worse for President than Trump is right now - so any alternative has to be better.

If you can't even be bothered to look up the platform of the person running against Trump, it really does show how insincere you are, but as others might want to read it I'll post it anyway -


End of Mandatory minimums

End, once and for all, the federal crack and powder cocaine disparity

Decriminalize the use of cannabis and automatically expunge all prior cannabis use convictions

End all incarceration for drug use alone and instead divert individuals to drug courts and treatment.

Eliminate the death penalty

Use the president’s clemency power to secure the release of individuals facing unduly long sentences for certain non-violent and drug crimes.

End cash bail + Stop jailing people for being too poor to pay fines and fees

End the federal government’s use of private prisons, building off an Obama-Biden Administration’s policy rescinded by the Trump Administration. And, he will make clear that the federal government should not use private facilities for any detention, including detention of undocumented immigrants.



Now you might well say he won't actually do that, politicians never fulfil all their manifesto promises, but my answer would be he's sure as hell more likely to do it than the president who's advocating the opposite of every one of those policies and has done nothing but move social and justice reform backwards over the last 3 1/2 years.
