George Floyd murder / Derek Chauvin guilty of murder

cop went too far 100% but don’t think he meant to kill him or that it was because he was black
They have to deal with these scum bags everyday and see the devastated victims of their crimes
They knew who he was and thought here’s some pay pack and roughed him up but went much too far

I do think it’s terrible for all the victims of his violent crimes, people whos lives he ruined and changed forever, that they have to look at painted murals of his face everytime they turn on the TV

I don't think it was consciously racist, no, but when you hear witness testimony after witness testimony state the fear that they had for themselves, for family, for fellow citizens and Mr Floyd, there must be acceptance from the police of having a power trip with that knowledge.

As for 'not meaning to kill him' I think Chauvin knew EXACTLY what he was doing and bet on himself to have the law behind him. Pinning someone to the ground is different than shifting weight to inflict more pain.

We seem to forget that Chauvin is the one that can hear him most clearly; his suffering, his pleadings, his last breaths. He hears it all plus the lack of resistance, eventually, and maybe even the lack of pulse through his knee on Floyd's neck as he had direct pressure.

i agree totally there’s a power trip involved and I doubt it’s the first time he’s been heavy handed
I just can’t get my head round him knowing he was going to kill him with video phones pointing at him

I fear more riots if the people aren’t happy with his sentence and I do think he should rightly go down for this but I don’t think it will be lengthy enough for people to be happy with it

I, rarely, have hope on a system that allows officers to walk free even if they are on camera. We've seen it loads of times in recent years, so camera phones are not the issue here.

It's quite possible (& I think this is where the defence is trying cast its net as wide as possible) that they are going to utilise the 'fear for officers safety' angle as they try and spread doubt as to why Chauvin stayed so long.

They've tried the 'rough neighbourhood' angle and the 'angry mob' angle, so far.

It's real scattergun in their approach.

Also worked out pretty terribly for George Floyd.

it was terrible but violent career criminals made their choice his victims didn’t

Indeed.

I also don't think Floyd made the choice of dying under an officers knee after being pulled up for allegedly using a fake $20 bill.

You really should have left it at ''it was terrible'', the rest of the sentence isn't needed.
