George Floyd murder / Derek Chauvin guilty of murder

Just because they both have guns doesn’t mean either actually needs to shoot the other. The officer could, you know, write up the ticket and the driver could, you know, just accept it. That way no one gets shot.

It’s what happened to me when so got a tug from NJs finest for crossing from
an express freeway to a local one without using one of the pre-determined crossing points, I didn’t have a gun and didn’t shoot anyone and the officer probably did but also didn’t shoot me and just gave me a ticket. As a process it seemed to work quite well.

Philando Castile likes this post.

Oh wait...!

It's been an interesting last couple of days in the trial with Nelson using all sorts of witnesses that an ordinary person would struggle to find credible.

Brodd yesterday who, at one point, took almost 5 mins to come to a consensus that Chauvin's knee was on top of Floyd's neck. He was a cold offering full of denial about Chauvin's contribution to Floyd's death.

And then today, a real doozy of a 'witness' in 'Dr' Fowler who, incidentally, is currently being sued by a family for his testimony in denying causes for another Black man's death, gave meandering testimony, unsure of how to phrase his next sentence!

Fowler maintains all sorts of contributory factors from a 'large heart, carbon monoxide from Floyd being near the running engine of the cop car, but denying 3 officers weighing down Floyd had anything to do with his death.

Honestly sickening to watch this poor excuse for a Human Being give testimony.

It's also interesting that Nelson has witnesses that are all Caucasian and retired, so far. Nobody in a current working to their 'expertise' role in 2021.

Fucking hell, maybe he just loved to much.

At least with Kim Potter there's been a fairly quick turnaround. It always amazes me when you read stories like "the officer has been suspended" and you're sitting there wondering whether "suspended" is a misprint for "arrested."

Ah, the fabled 2nd Amendment argument.

The clue is in the title. It's called an 'amendment'.

And as for a 'well trained militia'...
Trev, mate, you’re on a hiding to nothing! You are spouting BS about shit you clearly know nothing about and absolutely nothing we say here is going to change it.

If you want a serious discussion on the issue, you need to understand both the history of 2A and why it is so zealously guarded.

For good measure, boning up on your knowledge of how an “amendment” gets “amended” would be a good start, as it will inform you why it’s not going to change in the near future, if ever.

You can be all high and mighty on your moral footstool, if you like, but it really boils down to not understanding the deep-seated cultural differences, and you believing your way is better. Much good may it does you.

Now, I’ve had enough 2A for one day and am much more interested in 2-1!!!

More than happy with the 2-1 ;-)

Also happy to debate the deep seated cultural differences you speak of though, and why many of your politicians are so reluctant to even debate changing gun law. I'm sure you won't be surprised when I say the firearms industry in the USA is worth $Billions yearly. And yes, I understand what a big deal it it to amend an Amendment, but when 2A was penned the framers had muskets and flint-lock pistols in mind, not semi-automatic assault rifles with extended capacity magazines; not forgetting the structure of society was far removed from what you have today.

You certainly have to question why elements of the media, the government and others are constantly peddling the narrative that the only way citizens can be truly safe from tyranny is to arm themselves to the teeth. Maybe it's just a simple as the fact that it keeps the wheels of the multi-billion dollar arms industry rolling along and making money?

True enough. Love it, hate it, guns are not going away in the States.
Fwiw, I see open carry all the time, I don’t bat an eyelid. All the moral outrage is truly wasted, I understand you don’t agree, if venting on here makes you feel better, knock yourself out.....Trev

It's not really morale outrage; more shaking my head in disbelief.
