George Floyd murder / Derek Chauvin guilty of murder

More than happy with the 2-1 ;-)

Also happy to debate the deep seated cultural differences you speak of though, and why many of your politicians are so reluctant to even debate changing gun law. I'm sure you won't be surprised when I say the firearms industry in the USA is worth $Billions yearly. And yes, I understand what a big deal it it to amend an Amendment, but when 2A was penned the framers had muskets and flint-lock pistols in mind, not semi-automatic assault rifles with extended capacity magazines; not forgetting the structure of society was far removed from what you have today.

You certainly have to question why elements of the media, the government and others are constantly peddling the narrative that the only way citizens can be truly safe from tyranny is to arm themselves to the teeth. Maybe it's just a simple as the fact that it keeps the wheels of the multi-billion dollar arms industry rolling along and making money?
The gun lobby is strong, no doubt, but where do they get their money and why?

It’s a right. That right is to stop tyranny. To stop tyranny, you have to be able to properly defend yourself, and even possibly attack. As Government issued weaponry has improved, so 2A has captured more and more deadly weapons.

One SCOTUS Justice was once asked whether an RPG should be available for use by a citizen. He said there was an argument to be made if the citizen could bear that firearm!

it is deeply entrenched in the culture, and just as Monarchy seems anachronistic to Americans, so guns are to Brits!

More people have been killed in the name of the Crown than all the guns in American citizens’ hands ever!

Or, religion. That seems weird to me, but we have laws protecting it and give it tax breaks no one else gets? For what?!

Culture, eh?! Whaddyagonnado?!

I love it
I'm not a US citizen, so I really have no say in the mater. Whatever pleasure people get from firearms ownership and use is no real business of mine.

And yes, I have put many hundreds of round down. The only satisfaction I get is from achieving as tight a grouping as I can at the various ranges. I still understand that the purpose of a firearm is ultimately to kill, and if it's kill or be killed, then I have no issue with that, but does your average citizen really need to own an assault rifle?

I use my rifle maybe two or three times a year, I have never given a shit (and nobody I know) about shooting firearms

It’s not an “assault rifle” though. It’s the same “gun” as a 9mm semi automatic pistol...with a stock, a slightly longer barrel and a different bullet that is made to LOOK like an actual “assault rifle,” as used by the military.

An AR-15 just fires bigger bullets with greater accuracy and deadliness over greater distances. Therein lies one of the big problems with gun legislation.

Plus, now you can 3D print almost all of any gun you might care to, and use the “metal parts that make gun go ‘BOOM’” from almost any completely legal gun!

For 10 years I was armed at work. At that time I tried to educate myself on the use of firearms and the laws surrounding them. As a result, I put hundreds of rounds a month down range, got my Concealed Carry Permit and bought a few guns to go with my service weapon.

It was a .40, so I bought a .40 Glock (so I could practice with Govt bullets!). Then, I realized the Glock was a much nicer, easier shot than the HK, so I bought a 9mm because the next Gen Glock19 had just come out, and the ammo us cheaper and ubiquitous! For CC, the G19 isn’t as concealable as the G43, so I bought that to carry on my person, with the G19 by the bed.

I am a completely respectable, law abiding, middle-aged, middle class, guy who just happens to have amassed 3 guns. I know to some that sounds crazy, but I like to shoot, I’m pretty decent at it, I am a Federal Marksman, and I do feel like I could defend my family against multiple people, if push came to shove.

As for 2A, I don’t think about it. I’m not against registration, but many, many owners are. They feel like it’s a slippery slope to the government knowing what you have and coming after you! I know people who have guns (plural) buried on their property! I’m not them! But, they’re out there in droves!!

Right now, you can’t find ammunition for love nor money, so I’m not shooting much. I’m down to about 500 rounds of .40cal and about 100ish rounds of 9mm. Shelves are empty of ammo at local stores, with no idea when they’ll be getting more in.

FYI...in the run up to, and since, the election, over 10 MILLION NEW GUN OWNERS in the USA! Now, that is down to the “they’re coming for you next!” RWNJs convincing more RWNJs that every Democrat is about to overturn 2A!

Obama’s election created record sales of guns and ammo, and Trump’s & the RWNJ’s rhetoric has beaten that with Biden’s election. Throw in the production problems associated with the pandemic and not only can they not make bullets fast enough, they can’t get the raw materials for their manufacture!

I guess that’s a minor victory for gun, or more precisely ammo, control!
