The parallels with the Thatcher (v Mendes) incident are really obvious, aren't they? Also, can you imagine the indignant outrage if Brown had been the perpetrator rather than the victim?

Gerrard will get away with it because the FA haven't a vertebrae between them when it comes to punishing England players. The clue is in the press angle "Benitez feels Gerrard has nothing to answer for"... even thougfh he didn't actually see the incident.

Gerrard always had a bit (ok, a lot) of the devil in him (not necessarially a bad thing in itself, of course) but he's now become a nasty, conniving, whinging little shit - just like good old Captain Marvel, from over the road, did when he knew his talent was going off the boil.

Here, ladies and gentlemen, is the proof of why us signing Gerrard (as has been suggested left, right and centre) would be a very, very bad idea.

Gerrard was acting in self defence, Brown was running away from him aggressively.
No court in the land would convict him. He has got a good solicitor.

Haha you can see what's happened in that first gif. Brown had been fouling Gerrard all game. Gerrard goes to make a burst forward, brown notices him, goes to stand in Gerrards way to block his run and Gerrard just thinks 'fuck off I've had enough of you' and BANG. brown deserves it cos he's a total ****, but Gerrard should still be done

Yeah, that's three games right there, no escaping it. In fact it's downright assault, from behind. Would be interesting to see what happened if actual criminal charges were filed...

I was reserving judgement as I'd not seen it but for anyone to say "it's not bad" is ludicrous. That was assault with no reason.

The fact he would only get the same ban as Adebayor for what was a palm in someone's face, who overreacted and would never have caused injury, is a joke. I really think there should be a panel who sit to decide what, over and above three games, a player should get because that is as bad as any I've seen this season.
