Still collecting quotes for a complete boiler replacement to my dead powermax 155.

2750 is the cheapest so far, B.Gas the most at 3500.

This is for a W Bosch.
Hi Bimbo, if your interested still, and live in or around Manchester, I can match your lowest quote (2750) for fitting a Vaillant ECOTEC28 which is as good or better than a W/Bosch, its a very good Condensing Boiler, price includes fitting boiler and new radiators, power flush ( B.Gas robbing gits will charge at least £400 extra for this and its quite important with a new system), system cleaning agents, VAT, and a FIVE year warranty, fully GAS SAFE ( CORGI ) registered.

p.m. if this is of help...... DD

This Vaillant boiler is the same as mine, the water flow it pushes out of my shower is more powerful than I was getting from my electric power shower, and it saved me roughly £125 a year on my gas bill in it's first year.

Get it fitted mate you wont regret it.

Mine seems to have developed a problem. It has a wireless thermostat and should come on when the room falls below whatever temperature, the thermostat shows the flame indicator to show it's doing what it should, the receiver box then flashes as it should and the on light comes on, it seems the box is then not telling the boiler to switch on, hot water works fine and fuck knows how to override it and switch the boiler on manually? My Mrs' Dad is a gas man and usually sorts it out, but he's away at the minute so it's candles and cold mornings for the time being.

Try the batteries..i get called out plenty of times for this..the batteries have enough power to show the display, but not enough to send signal..top up pressure too if below green mark..1 bar approx.

I think the Vaillants have just about got the edge on the Worcesters now and we fit a lot of Worcesters there's a Vaillant Eco in our house though.

Salford Paul is ace, he knows his stuff & fitted my boiler for me. Great lad, dead reliable.

And no he didn't pay me to say that!! There's only one thing wrong with him....................he's from Salford not Eccles!!!!!

vaillant are having big probs with pumps on their new boilers, there are also many reports of the seals catching fire and melting. they shouldn t have got involved with saunier duval and glow worm imo. what boiler manufacturer now says that you must change a seal regularly to stop it causing damage? their old stuff 20 yrs ago was top, new stuff is crap imo....worcester all day long for me

-- Thu Oct 17, 2013 9:40 pm --

:-) thanks EB you are a gem (will send your money via pm!)

Worcester are fairly decent boilers until you ever need to work on them. Sometimes they're an absolute PITA to work on, which shouldn't be the case on a boiler that's supposed to be the "installers choice". I've stopped fitting them now and stick to vaillant with the odd cheaper one for landlords. Don't get me wrong they're still a good boiler, but there are much better boilers out there that unfortunately don't have the large advertising budget that WB does. They've definitely got their name about now mind, as the average joe on the street only ever seems to mention WB when anything to do with boilers is mentioned!

Anyway, back to the O/P. I'd be careful rushing out and getting a new boiler fitted if the problem you've got is a poor flow rate. You need to check the flow rate on the incoming mains first as if that's poor then a fancy new boiler isn't going to make a jot of difference. If you mean the problem is a poor flow rate at your showers then i'd be looking at getting a pump fitted instead, especially if there's nothing wrong with your boiler. A decent shower pump will make a huge difference to your showers if that's the issue.

appreciate what your saying pal but i'd rather work on a worcester any day, rather than a saunier duval, vokera, vaillant, sime, ideal isar/icos ...the list is endless. what do you have trouble with on a worcester?

Is that the seal on the heat exchanger are they recommending replacement now, i've heard from service engineers of this problem but not that often is it a fault on the newer models.

About as far off topic as is possible. But didn't Eccles used to be in Trafford before it got lumped in with Salford?

Surely the lesser of two evils, if so?
