Getting from Manchester to Wembley Stadium in a wheelchair

I wonder if anyone could give me a little bit of advice. Usually get the train from Manchester straight through to Euston station. I'm wondering if this is the best option for getting to Wembley Stadium. When I get to Euston, according to Google maps it is about six or 8 miles. Will probably get a taxi, because as far as I know the underground is useless. And the buses the same. Is this right?

Any advice appreciated.

Don't get a taxi or a bus, that's my advice. It's a lot longer than you think in central London and the traffic will be a nightmare. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 2 ours and £70. Bus will be dreadful.

Can't you pre-book one of the Euston to Wembley fast trains so one of the guards helps him on and off? I know you can do that on most lines.

Serious question mate. How independant are you? By this I mean, If you were to travel by coach, could you sit in an ordinary seat with the wheelchair stored underneath? The reason I ask is because I'm sure if any blues saw you on the day, they would go out of their way to help you. Same thing with the trains, I'd be staggered if people didn't help you if they saw you struggling.

no mate, not really independent at all. Cannot transfer etc, once I am in the wheelchair, that's it.

I did ask on a London-based football forum as well, and got this advice.

My smartphone app with the Underground map shows that the Met line gives wheelchair access at Kings Cross St Pancras and also at Wembley Park. You will have to go by Victoria line (Eastwards) from Euston though, to get to KingsX St Panc because Euston Square which would be the option for someone walking, doesn't have wheelchair access. Then once you have negotiated the route within the rail station (I can't help here) there is wheelchair access to the Met line.

I think that is the way I will be going.

I have got myself two hours to get there from Euston, and one and three-quarter hours to get back, so hopefully I will make it.

MY 16 year old daughter is mad for city, so ye.

info for anyone.
"Okay, managed to get hold of this number 08432221234 LFT. The guy on this number told me that there is access to Euston Square via a lift, and access at Wembley Park. So it looks like I will be going on the Metropolitan line after all. Anybody has any information experience, that this guy has sold me a bum steer, please let me know."

I am a frequent user of London Transport (every bleedin' week) and I would so that a Taxi is the ONLY reasonable way for you to do this I'm afraid unless you want to fight to get on the Number 18 bus (which goes all the way from Euston To Wembley) - I did it a couple of years ago (leaving ground) - its a long old way though. You are right Tube will be a non-starter and to be honest even if you could find step free access, its not wise to be anywhere near the Wembley Tube Stations when there is a crush, which there will be. Booking your taxi for the return journey will also be a must.

I have posted info for disabled fans traveling to Wembely on the Manchester City Disabled Supporters Association Web Site www.mcdsa.co.uk take a look, hope it helps
