Edersons "ability on the ball" has completely gone to shit the last year

He doesn't look arsed, he makes so many stupid mistakes now and he doesnt make smart passes anymore, his passes to our defence put then under pressure

Ironically the passes he does succeed at are the long ones, but they aren't often enough

He doesnt have the hunger anymore, he needs a new challenge hes just checked out mentally for us

And if his ability on the ball is compromised, his shot stopping get exposed

I dont really understand Donnarumma while Pep is here, but the guy is a world class shsot stopper

Allison isn't great with his feet yet hes a world class shot stopper and Liverpool haven't had too many issues

We may conceed a few goals playing out from the back, but atm every shot on goal ends up in our net

Feel free Trafford but when a talent like Donnarumma becomes available it's hard not to go for it

Also, Ederson has been injured quite a bit over the past 2 seasons so we have not fully benefited from his on the ball ability anyway.

I was happy with Eddie and Trafford as backup going into this season but equally happy, for different reasons with Donnarumma and Trafford as well

Joe did have a tendency to welly the ball into the car park to be fair.

Ha, he did but we still played some great football. He often played it short from dead balls to Kompany. Admittedly it’s harder now because of all the high press bollocks but you do have the advantage of being able to tap it 2 yards off dead balls to the centre half next to them.

I’m not saying if this deal happens we won’t miss Eddie’s left peg and it will take adjustment. I just don’t think it’ll be as extreme regarding our playing style as some think.

Yeah see all that if it’s true we getting him if Ederson leaves, it be interesting next season with him and how we play? Ederson was the best at passing out the back the long passes and so on! Donna like you said if a great shot stopper and one of the best penalty savers!

Think if he comes if we pressed high by a team we go long if a team doesn’t press high he will have no problem passing the ball to left or right of to someone coming for the ball like a silva a rodri or a stones..

It doesn't put an end to his chances.
It gives him to opportunity to fight for a position that is competitive in nature.
Footballers are conditioned to fight for their starting position. Its the nature of the beast.
Trafford will get his chances if Edy or Donna are there, unless he proper fucks up his audition. Same with Edy or Donna.

If we’re signing a keeper for 50m on a long term contract it absolutely ends his chances of becoming our first choice keeper. Unless donnarumma is terrible, he’s not going to get dropped and he would expect to play in all the big games.

At least with Ederson there is a pathway to the first team.

They've changed the general style of the team multiple times even if Ederson was a consistent part of it.

They spent 2 years playing false 9 4-3-3 with Gundogan in the CF position before signing Haaland and playing 3-6-1. We can adapt to a keeper that isn't Ederson.

You are exaggerating Donnarumma's weaknesses. Ederson doesn't want to extend his deal at City, hence when Donnarumma's agent openly talks about Manchester City, there is speculation.

There is smoke. There is also fire. There is also a bucket of water.

I've played goalkeeper my entire life so its something i naturally gravitate to. (At one point in my childhood I'd have told anyone Nicky Weaver was the David Seaman replacement for England)

A lot of my all time favourite players outside of City are keepers and I especially enjoy the eccentric weirdos of the position. Ederson is as eccentric as they come.

Obviously there's still the likes of Zaba, Kompany, Aguero, Rodri, Fernandinho etc who I've enjoyed too, but I'm just a goalkeeper guy really.

My only memory with James was having a mare at Burnley, not the same I know
I agree with some posters that Ederson looks like he’s mentally checked out at city and I don’t trust him anymore with his footwork
Been quite a few fuck ups recently and he’s not the greatest shot stopper
Too many rumours knocking about to say he wants to stay he obviously wants out.
That being said the only times I’ve watched donnarumma he’s been fantastic.
These are more questions than opinions
Personally I think pep has decided to change tact and try bring haaland more into it with long balls and also try stop conceding from counter attacks, it’s a big move if true.
I dunno maybe I’m talking bollox.

They just won CL with him. Maybe we have this chance now and it doesn’t come again in 10 years. We are probably going to change the way we play after Pep leaves the club.
