Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

They're in no position to stick to that valuation. 1 year left on his deal and they've signed a new number 1. They aren't going to want a number 2 who is on the wages he's on who they then can't make money on in a year.

Strange tactic from them isn’t it? I guess it’s to make it clear to him that he needs to move but also, it puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to selling a star asset.

Stinks of United ‘beating City’ to a signing we were never in for, nor need.
According to Romano, we are in talks with both PSG and the player right now so I don't think it's a bluff. Chelsea is out of the race, Donnarumma prefers us (UCL football) over United.

But you don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Donnarumma would completely change what has been a fundamental part of Pep's City.
And im sure pep knows... this just as much as any of us. He will be a key cog in the decision of this so I wouldnt be to concerned if the club goes ahead with it.

I'll never understand why people think Eddie was a main factor in our build-up. Sure he had assists and great long passes but they were still rare. Don't like stats much as they count numbers and not quality but I feel Eddie mostly kicks the ball to the next CB or DM - as most others too.

As if Eddie is a decisive figure of our 'system'. Most keepers nowadays can circulate the ball quite well being pressed. As if Donnarumma can't kick a ball.

I want at top shot stopper and Donnarumma is one. Our defenders would have to care for the build-up anyway, no probs.

Show me those stats pls mate
Also in a far less competitive league. Half the teams in Ligue 1 can barely keep afloat.

I’m by no means saying he’s a bad keeper, but he’s not a big upgrade on Ederson, he’s far worse on the ball and it’s not fair on Trafford or Ortega.

Plus we’ve got Stones, Akanji, Ake, Kovacic, Gundogan, Grealish & Phillips all either 30+ or we’re looking to replace. Not sure why we’d spend big on a keeper when it’s not a pressing issue.

If Ederson is interested in Gala, then we should make this happen.

I heard the news yesterday that PSG had signed a new keeper and were dropping Donnarumma from their match-day squad and I was cursing our luck but it seems that we might move regardless.

Imagine that you had just lied to another new signing by saying 1 more season under Eddie and you'll be the new #1 only to then sign a keeper that is 26yo with a good 10 year life span left in him.

He's a great keeper btw but it should have been one or the other, again, just my humble opinion.

You have to be ruthless in business and in elite football.

Look at Liverpool going for Isak even though they just signed that other striker. He probably thought he was undisputed centre forward when he signed.

If anyone watched PSG closely last season they will see he stood out like a sore thumb for his inability to play. Its quite impressive how ruthless PSG are about a big name player who clearly doesnt suit them. Enrique is a top top manager with big balls.

Enrique likes to play a way not a million miles away from Peps style yet prefers a somewhat unproven French keeper over this fella who some people are calling best in the world.

I am shocked that Pep is sanctioning this, i will believe it when I see it because i just dont believe it will happen

You can play two centre forwards, though.

I've wanted us to sign Trafford back as I think he will be a top keeper and England #1 soon enough, if we then stifle him by signing another good keeper it would be a huge shame.

At the end of the day, Donnarumma was given a chance at 16yo when AC Milan were in the shit and grabbed it with both hands and never really looked back.

Respect and trust are a two way street. (City may well not have promised him any such thing either tbh)
