Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

If Ederson is leaving, I agree we need someone more established/better than Trafford, but Donnarumma is only 26. If we're paying PSG for him, I imagine he'd be getting a 4-5 year deal, which makes zero sense to what we just paid for Trafford...

And where is Oretga in all this? Very odd.

Ortega is leaving.
I suggest you ring city club call, they'll have all the answers you want.

Two in and two out and bettinelli as a backup.

Probably among the top few shot stoppers in the world in the world. On that alone, any team should want him...

Putting him in the city team would have to suggest we are changing our approach, considering he's not nifty with his feet.

Either that or it'll just be a case of accepting he's such a good keeper that we'll be willing to take the hit on him not being Ederson with his feet and tell him to just get pass it out to a defender ASAP and let them play out from the back.

Who knows. I can't really imagine him in goal for City at all, considering our criteria for goalies under Pep.

I'll still take him though. You dont find shot stoppers like that easily.

Then again, they said Haaland wasn't a pep player and he broke the premier league record in his first season and we won a treble. I think we over analyse things. Quality is quality.

Also he just played for the arguably the best team around at the moment and it's not like they're playing hoof ball

Football can be unforgiving, and if Donnarumma arrives, it’s on Trafford to step up and fight for the number one shirt.

If World Class players are available, we have to bring them in. I want players who are going to win me a Championship, and Donnarumma is one of those.

Just offer PSG a loan , with them paying half of his wages

They are desperate to get rid of him

While City can survive with Trafford

He is refusing to sign a new contract and both parties have publicly said he’s not in the plans so there is zero point rocking the boat as psg have already bought a replacement

All I want is a goalkeeper who is a truly safe pair of hands between the sticks. I’m not interested with this obsession with building from the back with the Goalkeeper. What matters most is reliability and presence in goal. He never looked out of place in a PSG side renowned for their quick, attractive, and swashbuckling style of football. Some of his saves last season, particularly against Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa, were nothing short of extraordinary. It would be a welcome change to have a keeper capable of keeping us in a match through moments of brilliance, rather than one who concedes from the opposition’s very first shot on target.

I can't honestly believe there are posters who are against this. Him and Trafford as number 1 and 2 are the best options a club will have in the League.

Ederson had a good pair of hands between the sticks. His hands were never the issue. It was his positioning that was at times suspect. This obsession with building from the back is something we do because we don't press. PSG will kick the ball off out of bounds to bring everyone up and win possession from the press. We don't do that. We build from the back and try and move it forward. Unless we improve our press, Donnarumma is going to build from the back. I'm not against it per se. Ederson has seemed to want out for the past year or more. Ortega wants to play every week to make the German national team. Let them go and be happy.

Players have always been commodities. Hence transfer values. That seems a strange argument for someone to make.

In the days of retain and transfer, players were slaves and certainly not commodities. The transfer market as we know it now did not really exist; it was more a case of a few private treaties, there was no public auction or free market. The historical challenges to players’ employment rules ending in freedom of contract really was the start of commoditisation.

Donarumma is better keeper than Ederson , but he is very poor with his feet , I can't see Pep going for him . He would be a good signing for Chelsea, Manure
I’m surprised at Peps interest for this reason. Great goalkeeper in the traditional sense but Pep has always insisted on someone who can build the play and pick a pass. Basically 11 outfield players.

So if Donnarumma joins and Trafford is first choice does that make him Maddonna?

Top class keeper if not best around atm, if available you go for him

feel a bit sorry for Trafford if thus happens though as I think game time would lessen

That us a myth due to his first arrival at PSG where he was benched, he then spent extra training lessons with coaches on his footwork and earned his place as 1st choice and trust of enrique

This is Peps obsession overloading in one position, and then playing them out of what's considered their best position! So, which keeper does pep have his eye on to play Left Back???
