Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

I prefer Eddie. A bit of continuity could help us this season with KDB gone and potentially many of the older players playing less minutes.
Do you think his game is affected by the speculation. If you believe the Turks, he and his agent have been negotiating a move all Summer but Gala are trying to reduce the cost / wages.

We are going to have to replace Ederson soon. This was an opportune moment, because it's not many times a world class keeper becomes available. But it can only happen if Galatassaray make a bid. They bid for Sane and Osimhen but they don't seem to be serious over Ederson. If they don't bid now, it won't happen.

Tolmie posting on X as though both Donnarumma and Rodrygo are done deals. I know he posts on here and some think he’s up there in the ITK stakes.
Well obviously he's not quite at @Mancini’s Pastilles ITK level but he's not got a bad track record of providing in good faith countless interesting insights and updates over many years. @tolmie's hairdoo

It does feel like with Viana the journalists on the inside have changed, seems like Romano is getting a lot more information and the old reliables like Jack Gaughan seem a bit more out of the loop. Still getting their briefs, but not ahead of the story.

Hard to say because Ederson definitely had daft moments last year, but the team was a mess at times so he had no more daft moments than the defence, mid or attack imo.

I'd prefer Eddie to stay too, he fits our style. But donnaruma is a good enough replacement, and maybe we are changing our style to something more exciting anyway.
PSG play better football than City do. Fast possession based football. That was the Pep way. We stopped last season because there were no defenders and the wingers weren't good enough anyway.

I don't buy this Donnarumma can't play for Pep. I have loads and loads of people say this. But that doesn't make them right.

Brilliant goalkeeper, very different style to Ederson who’s been crucial in our success. Be happy either way if he comes in or eddy stays. Feels like he’s using city to ramp up an offer elsewhere to me

Back to the Keegan-era tactics.

Try and win every game 10-9
In the “entertainers” year they conceded just 37 and scored fewer than any PL champions have ever scored. It’s a myth they had lots of high scoring games because of one match against Liverpool that most people remember.

True. Ederson and Trafford is a good pair. But it won't last long. I feel like this is a sliding door moment, where you get a sense of another future which is just out of reach.

Reeks of the Saudi league or Newcastle, maybe even utd, but we can not afford his wages, his mistakes, or his problem child tantrums. Still a fantastic keeper.
We can afford his wages.

He makes fewer mistakes than Ederson.

He’s not a problem child.

He’s one of the best keepers in the world and had several matches in the CL last season which bettered any two matches Ederson has ever had for City.

I'd love to know James Trafford's thoughts on this. Assuming Ederson may leave next summer (if not before!), will Donnarumma be happy to play second fiddle to a youngster, who I presume signed for us with hopes of being first choice keeper.
Tbh if Trafford turns out to be good enough that he earns first choice outright from either Ederson or Donnarumma, then I think that's a brilliant scenario the club would be more than happy to deal with
