have some respect, that’s our new number 1 you’re talking about! Even if Donarumma does leave, we still have Trafford to Take over in a few years anyway

Only downside is Eddie goingThere is no downside to having Traff and Donna on the books fighting it out for the starting position.
Get him in, Hugo!
Agreed. Bittersweet is the taste of this change.Only downside is Eddie going
But more than happy with Donna as replacement
It could work, never know , but when other teams have had 2 number ones rotating or left to fight it out that I can remember it’s never lasted more than a season. Arsenal were the last team to try it. Usually the last one in wins out but when they both arrive in the same summer we could end up trying to sell one next summer which isn’t great. There is no downside to having Traff and Donna on the books fighting it out for the starting position.

Trafford-Ortega is higher risk that Donnarumma-Trafford.Trafford was professional and solid yesterday but let’s have it right he wasn’t tested with anything a good PL keeper shouldn’t save or manage.
There will be much sterner tests and there is no way any of you can tell from yesterday that he can perform as well against bigger sides or in the CL.
Get this kid in as well.
Ederson wants to leave. I don't think that's a good state of mind in which to play. If we agree to letting Ederson go, I think we'd be wise to bring in another top keeper because Trafford is 22 and still learning. We could go with Trafford-Ortega but I think Donnarumma-Trafford is stronger. It could work, never know , but when other teams have had 2 number ones rotating or left to fight it out that I can remember it’s never lasted more than a season. If we buy Donnarumma I trust the club, but find it very difficult to make sense of it.
They are very different situations though, Ederson Trafford would give us a year to decide whether we needed a number one or a 2 to replace Ederson. Ederson leaving now forces us into a position where we have to choose now. Choosing now when there are limited options risks making a wrong decision. That’s up to the club to decide and I trust them to not make a panic decision, and to take a long term view.Trafford-Ortega is higher risk that Donnarumma-Trafford.
In my opinion, City were intending to go into the new season with Ederson and Trafford but Donnarumma'S break-up with PSG allows us an opportunity to replace Ederson now rather than later and it would strengthen us this season.
Can’t say I watch PSG, it’s Pep that has always demanded a ball playing keeper more than City fans, what concerns me more than his passing though which can be accommodated by tactics are his apparently keeping weaknesses aerial balls, and concentration in the bread and butter games, which in bigger probably televised games than most watch him in aren’t apparent.Ederson wants to leave. We played good football at Wolves with Trafford hitting the ball long, and losing it at times. I think City fans are hung up on the importance of the ball playing keeper. It is important but not all important, and it is not the case that Donnarumma cannot make a short pass. It never once entered my head that we would be able to press Donnarumma into mistakes when we played PSG. Nor was any weakness visible when PSG played other English clubs renowned for their high press.
Why would we rotate keepers? Not keen now, back traff, cant be rotating keepers aswel as the defence
He's fallen out with PSG and has one year left on his contract. It will be an expensive contract but he'd also lead to strong merchandising revenues. He's a star player.I like Donnaruma but he’s going to cost an absolute fortune. It would make the move for Trafford seem a little strange to me because Ortega could be second choice and we’d have saved a few quid
Likely suspected it would only be 12mths with Ederson leaving, I doubt the club had Donnarumma in their minds when we signed Trafford but things move quicklyTrafford looked fantastic yesterday, far better with his feet than I thought he would be. Surely he knew he would have to fight for his place though when he arrived?
