Gigs Thread

Saw Kishi Bashi here on Monday night. Always a great show. He’s an insane talent and it blows my mind that he remains virtually unknown. I saw he’s playing at the Academy on Oxford Road next month. I thoroughly recommend seeing him.

Just been to see Peter Hook and The Light at the Parr Hall. Did 15 New Order songs to start and then 15 Joy Division. 2 hr 15 mins on stage. Not bad at 68! Absolutely smashed the Joy Division set. New Order have always been a bit so so for me so that bit wasn’t as good but still some crackers in amongst them.

Seeing them in Boston (not the one in Lincolnshire) 2 weeks on Saturday.

James and Johnny Marr at the same venue next Thursday
Caught the Johnny Marr with James gig in Brooklyn couple of weeks ago. Didn't really care for the crowd.
Having never seen marr on his own before, it was a bit interesting. Can easily see why he and Morrissey don't get along. Thought James would be the headliner, but all those wankers from Brooklyn were there for Marr.

Are Catfish and the Bottlemen a big band? Noticed they are playing White Hart Lane and Heaton Park next year. Dont think I know one song by them.
Im a fan, seen them a couple of times and good live...but i too was surprised at the size of some of the gigs theyre playing

The Balcony, their first album is great

Saw The Icicle Works in Farsley on Tuesday.
Ian McNabb and Chris Layhe both did an acoustic set and then the pair of them together for The Icicle Works.

Just been to see Public Service Broadcasting at the Albert Hall in Manchester.
Superb musicians, great visuals, entertaining brass section and energetic dancing cosmonauts!

Saw Alice Cooper in Birmingham on Wednesday night (supported by Primal Scream). Alice still delivers despite being in his 70’s. His very well drilled band are much younger.

Despite his last two albums being very good, he only played on song from them and just delivered “hit” after “hit”.

Hadn’t seen him for a few years but his Halloween visits to the UK are a fun tradition.

Went to see them at Rock City Nottingham last night, brilliant gig at one of my favourite venues.

What a chameleon-like band Primal Scream are. Surprised to read of them and Cooper on a bill together! Maybe they played a set emphasising their rock side rather than their club/dance electronic stuff.

Glad you enjoyed AC anyway.

Keane and The Lathums at the Co-op Live tonight.
Both bands superb, sound great, but I'm still not a fan of arena gigs.
Was like watching the gig from space!

He is good value for money. £36 for 30 songs. Would you agree that he nails the Joy Division set? Flew by that one.
Yes in fairness, I preferred they Joy Division set, although we missed the first 3 songs of the New Order set, because we were told by security that stage time was 7.30 so we went for another pint, got in at quarter past and they had been on for 15 minutes.
