Went to see James last night at the Middlesbrough town hall. I think the capacity is about 1200. Always prefer them in more intimate venues as opposed to arenas.
Thought this is the best I have seen them since the mid 90s. My wife estimated that it was my 64th James gig. This is based on my t shirt collection. I did point out that it's at least 5 years since I last purchased 1.
There were a couple of strange things last night. For a start our tickets weren't checked on the way in. We could have saved £100 and just walked in. Secondly, the guy stood next to us spent most of the gig watching the snooker on his phone. Finally, another bloke stormed off when Tim gave an anti Trump speech. Not sure how you can go to a James gig and not know they are anti Trump and anti fascist.

Went to see the Viagra Boys at the Victoria Warehouse, brilliant gig, they really are one of the best live bands around, going to see them later in the year at Alexander Palace, can't wait.

Went to see the Manics at the Apollo this evening and they were their usual fantastic selves.
I missed out on watching KDB score, but at least I got to watch JDB perform "PCP" solo and acoustic!

It was superb mate. By the sounds of things last night was great as well. Hopefully they’ll continue to tour, maybe even some new music.

Sea Fever playing a free gig in Macclesfield Market Place tonight. Not familiar with them but will go along for a listen. Might even check them pout beforehand.

Mick hinted at new music in a recent interview - I think Ian Skelly was a great choice for drums. Glad you enjoyed it, nice if they did a bigger tour maybe in Autumn

Thought the sound quality in the ritz last night was poor,it never really seemed to full the room,was stood at the back though

I wasn't there but read a few reviews. Last time I went there was a grab a granny night or Icicle Works gig in mid 80s when I used to visit Manchester quite a lot

Went to see Holy Holy last night. Tribute to Bowie with Woody Woodmansy and Tony Visconti. Glen Gregory from Heaven 17 on vocals.
Absolute shite. Music great but Gregory very very poor. Don't think I've ever seen someone who loves himself as much as him.
Not helped by 0 atmosphere at the Newcastle City hall

Was at the same gig.
Agree that Glen Gregory is a poser, but most front men are - Woody Woodmansy & Tony Visconti needed a big personality to front up the excellent band.
Thought his vocals were good, not often you hear live performances of Bowie's album tracks (Five Years, Moonage Daydream).
The poor atmosphere was due to over keen security staff stopping anyone getting up to dance in the aisles - think it should have been a standing gig, personally.
Love the Newcastle City Hall...

It's a brilliant venue. Been to see the Mary Wallopers and James there recently. Just didn't do it for me last night. Not sure who that guitarist was but he was brilliant.
Also, when I 1st got tickets it was advertised with a different singer but for the life of me I cannot remember who it was.
