Gillingham v Manchester City 1999

you must have been blind drunk pal as SOTSOG wasn`t released until late February 2000 and as I love my music by my reckoning they probably started writing/recording it somewhere between may and October...
come on mate,no need to make things up, tell us what really happened on that fantastic day in may...!!

Haha. If I was going to make something up about that day it'd be far more impressive than a pissed up Liam singing his own songs back to us.

Was one of the greatest most surreal days of my life. Firstly, I had a ticket to the game, but couldn't go as I was working at the War Child Charity gig at the Kentish town Forum that night. The only option was to watch the match across the road at the pub there. Long story short there were a few Millwall supporters at the bar. Got into a bit of verbals with them during the match, and in my semi drunk, young, dumb, and full of shit way, I decided to give them one last mouthful on the way out the pub. They came piling out the pub after me. Only just got across the road and past security at the Forum before the nasty fuckers could lay hands on me.

From there things got more weird more intense and more drunken. The celebrity match goers started turning up at the Forum one by one. Watched Noel Gallagher and Richard Ashcroft practice an acoustic version of Bittersweet Symphony in a dressing room. The last thing I remember is being sat with Liam Gallagher and Aziz Ibrahim with Liam signing the entirety of Standing On The Shoulder of Giants with his City scarf wrapped round his head. When I say sing it, I mean he said "d'you wanna hear the new album" before singing every song on it with no backing. Just him singing his own songs. Fucking hilarious and one of the greatest days/nights of my life.

If you don't mind me asking sir - so what has any of that got to do with the game?

To be honest I was thinking the same.
Billy are you sure you are not getting it mixed up with another game?
It's an easy mistake to make to be fair.

Is that you on the right billy :)

I'd very much doubt that Liam was at some no-mark gig in Kent, on the night of the Playoff Final

so indirectly you`re saying what you`ve already said was made up?
you see the thing that doesn`t add up is that you said you had a ticket for the match.....so did liam Gallagher! why couldn`t you attend a 3 o`clock kick off?
you couldn`t go to the match as you was going to a gig....as was liam Gallagher!
liam Gallagher didn`t do the gig if you read reviews and reports.
you dodged millwall fans, then got past security at the forum.....surely security would have had it with millwall?
then amazingly you end up in a dressing room with noel and Richard Ashcroft BEFORE the gig?
I take it you had a triple A card hanging around your neck by this point?
times, places, people just don`t add up pal..
now,if your username was BillyLiar, then your story above is kosher...
