Girona FC (partnership)

Ok,cheers.

Hopefully you plan on sticking around next season? your info/insight will be very useful.

I will try to keep you informed. After all these years watching the team in second division, if I don't watch it when it's in first division, I may change teams altogether.

Just take in mind that one person tends to be very parcial; but as there aren't anymore Girona fans here, we will have to do with what we have.

On another note, I no longer go regularly to the stadium. I moved away four years ago, so I only go there an odd game or two, when I have holidays and the like. So I probably won't be able to tell you the atmosphere. It will be very good for sure, though.

I don't know how this works in England, but in Spain, small teams (even first division teams) can have a lot of changes each season (end of contracts specially, and selling players) . Losing ten or more players it is not a surprise to anybody.

So, let's say that we maintain our players. Which won't happen, though. Then we need a keeper (we sold Becerra (u19 Spain European champion) and we are still suffering it).

Our star is clearly Pere Pons. It's a player that can and should have been playing in first division but stayed loyal in the club he has been since he was a kid. You will see it next season when he gets more exposure in first division.

Maffeo has been our best defender (we haven't defended too well, at the start of the season we have at some point received the most goals of the entire division. That means we need defenders like him, please) , and arguably our second best player. Kudos to him. I hope we manage to keep him next year.

I will also have a shout out to Longo, as his goals haven been important. We are the team that has scored the most goals in second division.

Also comment that it is quite cheap to watch a match (specially pre 2015). One season for less than 250€ is quite nice. I hope the don't rise much the price.

Edit: i really can't tell what players would be good, as I don't watch city that much. The champions league fixtures, and odd match here and there. You can tell me what promising players could do well in first division level.
So you said that your defenders are bad , why your Manager was not convinced by our player Pablo Marri despite I read that Marri is a really good footballing defender ??

As far as I know, none. I have seen teams with nearly 10 loans.

Second, you should remember Girona is one of the poorest teams in second division. In debt, and without any first division flight in their history. In 2012 the club was sold for 1 euro. In 2014-2015 season, the budget was 4 milions, the second lowest of second division. Don't expect us to pay the salaries of such players (or any players, really).

I don't have any confidence in staying in first division. I think we will be 18th at best next season if nothing special happens.

Thanks for posting. Will be looking out for Girona results with interest.

Where did you read that? I don't see nothing that special about him. No idea why city signed him. Played like 500 minutes this season. Also he could work a bit with the ball. His passing is mediocre. Maybe he cannot adapt well to a 3/5 men defense.

Pd: lost again today. Well, with the team we fielded, and our circumstances, it isn't a surprise.

Was at the Zaragoza game, on the pitch, possible the worst game I've ever seen with both teams needing a point.
Only one shot in the whole game which was about 20 yards wide. Understand bookies have refused to pay out.
Atmosphere in a 9000 capacity ground was great though. Understand they are going to put in 3000 temp seat's which they can take down if relegated.
Great party night in Girona afterwards and open top bus next day, bands playing in park, whole town partied.
We are gong to give them Maffeo and Garcia on loan and possibly others but what they need is some experienced players.
They were hoping to get Bravo.
We signed Lejeune a couple of seasons back and loaned him for them and he was outstanding at CH. Paid a few grand and sold him to Eibar for 2.5 ml, where he has again been
outstanding and rumours are he's going to Newcastle. This is they type of player they need. Mangala would be a good shout if we were prepared to pay his wages.
Hope to get over for a couple of games next season.
PS The City of Girona is beautiful.

If Pep doesn't count on Patrick Roberts then perhaps even better than reloaning to Celtic is to have him play in the Primera with Girona

That rumour is already going round Girona.
It would be amazing if they got him, a lot would depend on Roberts ambitions.
It would certainly be better to play against, Barca/Real/Athletico etc instead of Hibs and Hearts but if
Girona is not adequeately strengthened he might not want to be in a relegation battle.

Girona's first transfer: 36 yo keeper Gorka Iraizoz from Bilbao.

Well, the club announced that only 8 players had their place assured, and there were expecting between 10 and 15 incorporations. And this I think it is and OK one. Solid, old, but with experience. We needed a keeper. Now we have one. Let's hope he is still in form.
